At University of Tasmania, the admission process to be followed is similar in the case of domestic and offshore students. However, overseas applicants have to apply for admission via the online international students application portal available on the university website or through any authorized admission agents.

Candidates applying to University of Tasmania Undergraduate courses are required to achieve completion of qualifications equivalent to Year 12 Australia. Apart from that, they should also meet the country-specific qualifications and English language proficiency requirements.

University of Tasmania Graduate Admission

University of Tasmania offers postgraduate courses in 60+ disciplines at various levels of study - graduate certificates, diplomas and masters degree programs. Students applying for postgraduate programs must have achieved a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university equivalent to degrees offered by an Australian University.

Apart from that, students must also meet the ELP and program-specific academic grades and any prerequisite subject requirements.

• Students seeking admission to masters by research degrees must have qualifications equivalent to an Australian Bachelor’s degree with minimum lower second class honours and an IELTS score of 6.5 with no band score less than 6.0.
• PhD applicants must have an IELTS score of 6.5 with a band score of 6.0 and a bachelor’s degree with upper second class honours or higher.

Admission Decision is made by the University of Tasmania after critical and careful evaluation of all applications including academic transcripts, certificates, scorecards, English language test reports and personal competency statement or portfolio.

In case of highly competitive courses with limited enrolment, admission will be carried out on the basis of quota selection, where applicants will be ranked according to their qualifications. Admission will be provided to applicants on the basis of their ranking position.

The minimum ranks for entry to course are subject to change every year based on factors such as the number of places available, the number of applicants and their academic standing. The University may also interview, or ask for an audition or submission from candidates.

Once an admission decision has been made, the candidates will be notified by the University via Email. Alternatively, students can also keep track of the status of their application through their Portal. Applicants who have not fulfilled all the entry requirements may receive a conditional offer of Admission.
