A Good Uni's Review

I choose this college because Macquarie is part of the "Big 4" universities in Sydney, as long you are in one of these 4 universities in Sydney then you are "safe" career-wise.

Exams :

I choose Information Technology as I am decent with computers and my scores at high school relating to computers is very high, but not so great in other areas. The minimum score (ATAR) required to get into this program I believe was 74 but my ATAR was <65, I still got accepted. Total credits are 72 points, with no specific eligibility.

Fees :

All fees covered by the government's HECS loan program.

Faculty :

Not too sure about the Faculty-student ratio as it is difficult to track the numbers when many classes are held online and can't see most other students. The teaching methodology is a mixture of online and face-to-face lectures, most exams are held on campus, sometimes online.

Hostel :

Living with parents, 1-2 hours bus ride to/from home. The bus only comes every hour or so, miss one and you will be bored for an hour, or in the case of exams - you are pretty much screwed. Meal and trip costs covered by the allowance. Food is overpriced because they know students are too lazy to go outside the campus. Living on campus or my having my accommodation is extremely expensive in Sydney. People are encouraged to share accommodation or stay with family.
