ACU- amazing creative unity

A
8.7 /10

Great location, central to public transport, local cafes, shops, and parks. The facilities that ACU has top all other universities. The facilities represent clinical placement and act as a great learning source for all health science students.

Course Curriculum :

Great, it provides a structured outline of what I'd entailed throughout that particular subject for the semester. Including assignments, requirements, learning criteria, textbook references, rubrics, etc. The only issue I have with the curriculum is that some subject uni outlines aren't specific and are very brief so when told to refer to the unit outline for assignments, it doesn't have much to assist.

Exams :

VCE - studied during year 12 to get an ATAR and from that ATAR applied for the course and got accepted straight after year 12.

Placement :

Placement opportunities are provided throughout the course (3 years). We haven?t really discussed job opportunities after but we will become registered nurses so I think jobs will be easy to find. We also have the option to do a grad year after, which will extend those opportunities.

Internship :

Yes, instead of internship we do clinical placement over our whole 3-year degree. So last year I did 3 weeks of clinical placement. This semester I will do 4 weeks and then again next semester as well. So this is a great addition to our degree, puts theory into practice.

Events :

We celebrate most special occasions and being a Catholic university and having a chapel, there are masses and events throughout the year that are not compulsory but anyone can attend if they desire. Nothing is forced.

Fees :

Whilst attending university your fees are added to your account or HECS fund in which when you get a full-time job after university a small percentage is deducted from it until it is all paid for. Alternatively, you can pay for each semester upfront, rather than HECS.

Scholarship :

No, I have not, haven?t tried as I don't meet most of the criteria so haven't thought about it.

Examination Structure :

Multiple choices and then short answer and long answer - good overall knowledge basis and structure. Exams run over a two week period but mine are usually in the first week, bunched together within 2/3 days.

Faculty :

Great, very friendly and approachable. Easy to contact through email and then you have arranged a meeting to discuss the course or any issues with a staff member. They are always helpful and nice.

Hostel :

I recently got a new job at a health food supermarket as a sales assistant but before that, I just did a waitressing job in hospitality for 2 years. I also recently moved out of home into an apartment which I share with another girl. But before that, I was living at home with my parents.
