  • Dalhousie University offers a Master of Architecture for a duration of 2 years.
  • It is an on-campus, thesis-based program offered on a full-time basis.
  • By studying the architecture programs, students develop their artistic skills, knowledge of history and technology, social and cultural awareness, and critical imagination.
  • The MArch program consists of four academic terms and an eight-month co-op work term.
  •  It includes seven courses in architectural design, humanities, technology, and professional practice, plus four electives and a design thesis.
  • The MArch program begins in the summer term, in early May.
  • Students also get the opportunity to do a Master of Environmental Design Studies (MEDS) of 1 year.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students should have completed a 4-year bachelor's degree such as BArch, BEng-Arch from a recognized university.
  • A GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B grade) is required to be eligible for the program.
  • A design portfolio is needed for application to the MArch program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Or, completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Or, completed a 3-year undergraduate degree from an accredited institution.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

Following are the required document:

  • Online application form and fees: Students have to fill the online form and submit the application fees. 
  • Resume: Outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work, and/or volunteer experience.
  • Two Professional References: Referees (Teachers, guidance counselors, or Professors) should comment on academics and that references should submit along with the application system.
  • Personal Statement: It should include a brief overview of themselves, strengths, and any work experience and/or education that students have.
  • Transcripts: Students have to submit transcripts from all universities/colleges attended, World Education Services Assessments, and English Language Proficiency test scores.
  • Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
  • Confirmation of Employment Form:  Students must be emailed as an attachment by applicant or referee. 
  • Proof of name change: Required only if name discrepancies exist between transcripts/assessments/test scores and other application documents.  Examples of proof: Marriage/divorce certificates, 2 copies of government-issued ID that include a previous and current name and date of birth.
  • ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
