Dominican University College (DUC) is a well known public research institution established in 1900 by the Canadian Province of the Dominican Order. DUC is affiliated with Carleton University and offers programs in French and English. It is one of the oldest university colleges in Ottawa and is a renowned Higher Education institute in Canada. The University also has a religious affiliation with Roman Catholic.

The institute is known for its specialization in Theology and Philosophy. It has adopted one of the oldest models, that of the studium generale of the Order of Dominican Preachers of the 13th century. The institute offers education at undergraduate and graduate levels for its aspirants across the globe.

The Admission process is entirely online and the Application fee is 120 CAD. They have small class sizes and they offer interesting courses as well.   • Dominican University College has its campus in the multicultural hub of downtown Ottawa near the Rideau Canal.
  • The buildings have a neo-gothic architecture with an ancient library which is the main attraction, residence hall, sports grounds, study areas, and church.
  • Plant Bath and Gatineau Park have health facilities in addition to the 400 km bike and walking paths near the Ottawa river which is 500 m away from the campus.
  • Dominican University College has a total of 160 students.

Placements

International students are requested to have enough funds, but co-op and intern appointments are available on-campus. Teaching assistant, library helper, or research assistant are some employment options available to students. Students must submit a Social Insurance Number(SIN) to work in Canada. To acquire that, the following must be procured-

  • Confirmation for off-campus work authenticated by CIC

To work in Canada temporarily after graduation, Post Graduation Work Permit(PGWP) must be submitted, by making an online application for 255 CAD within 180 days of graduation.
