University College of the North (UCN) offers a wide variety of degree, diploma, certificate and post-secondary courses primarily in Education, Business, Technology, Nursing, and Arts. The UCN offers programs in small class intakes to encourage better personal interaction and promote simple classroom discussions. Students are also given a unique and practical hands-on experience while having access to the latest technology.

University College of the North invites international admission applications in Fall and Winter semesters. Admission applications by international students should be completed by April 1 for the Winter semester and August 4 for the fall semester. All International students will be required to pay an extra surcharge on their tuition fees.

University College of the North Admission Deadlines

The admission applications are accepted in Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer sessions through international applicants can only apply for Fall and Winter Semester.

University College of the North International Admissions

International applicants are accepted by the University College of the North UCN though it lies within the right of the college to limit the international applications per program. Only Fall and Winter intakes are open to International students.

All students are urged to get their documents checked and verified by the World Education Services (WES) before sending an application to UCN. International students are not eligible for financial assistance through bursaries or scholarships by the Government of Manitoba or UCN. Furthermore, international Students are considered under Regular Admissions only. They can not apply as special or mature students.

English Proficiency Test Scores for International Students

International applicants are required to demonstrate their English Language Proficiency through standardised scores. Students must have at least one of the following minimum score:

TOEFL-PBT Minimum 550, with no less than 50 in each component
TOEFL-CBT Minimum 80, with no less than 20 in each component

Visa Process for International students

International applicants are required to obtain a student visa to study in Canada. The college will provide the study permit to accepted students, then they can apply for the visa.

Students can apply for a visa by providing a letter of acceptance. Other documents required are:

  • Submitting proof of financial support.
  • Medical records (if applicable)
  • Valid Passport
  • Visa Application fee
  • Prepare for the Canadian visa interview and keep all required documents ready.

University College of the North offers excellent enrolment and student support services, where students are entirely guided in matters of networking, course selection, placement queries, or credit transfers. Every student is encouraged to meet an academic advisor who can additionally attend to their questions and offer the best support with regard to their course.

The student is responsible for timely informing the university if any changes need to be made to their application details. Once the application form is submitted, all the transcripts and documents are checked by the university. If you meet the required eligibility criteria, specific to your course, you will receive a conditional letter of acceptance.

Ans Application deadlines differ for each semester. For the winter semester 2020, you must apply by August 4.

Ques. How can I make an application for a course?

Ans An application form needs to be filled along with your personal details and selected course. You can find the application form on the website’s online portal. The form is also available from the Enrolment services or from any of UCN’s regional centers.

Ques. Can I apply if I have not received my final transcripts yet?

Ans Yes. Students can apply with their supporting documents. But official transcripts must be submitted before July 8 to allow adequate time to process admissions.

Ques. On what basis are the applications evaluated?

Ans Applications are evaluated based on multiple factors, depending upon the course selected. The official transcripts score, English proficiency score and academic background is considered before making an offer.

Ques. Does UCN have postgraduate courses?

Ans UCN offers only undergraduate programs. Apart from that, they also offer certificates and online courses.

Ques. How many intake sessions does University College of the North have?

Ans UCN has a total of four intakes- Summer, Fall, Spring, and Winter. Only Winter and Fall intakes are open to International students.
