I got to know about Dalhousie university from my Canadian resident relative. He highly recommended me to opt for the BCom course in McGill's Desautels Faculty of Management. As it is recognized as one of the best international business schools in Canada. I had applied at the University by filling out an online application form with an application fee of $115. I had also applied to several other Canadian colleges, but this one was my first choice. I scored 96% in my 12th which helped me get through the admission process.

    Fees :

I had paid $45000 for the tuition fees, other expenses include $2000 for books and supplies. I also paid $1500 for some miscellaneous expenses. I had availed a scholarship by scoring over 96% in grade 12. I was automatically eligible at the time of admission, which reduced about $3000 of my fees. Other than the merit-based scholarships many other scholarships are also available to be availed.

The reputation of the university, it's multi-track system (various areas of specialization of your choice), the option to graduate in 3 years having advanced credit, and the low costs of tuition compared to other top universities in the world. I also heard Montr_al was a great city to live in and I wanted to change my environment a bit.

    Fees :

I pay 20000 CAD a year as an international student. I did not receive any financial aid or scholarship. For a scholarship in my admission conditions, you would have to get a 44/45 in the IB, which is almost unobtainable! In the case of the financial aid application, I submitted it late so it wasn't considered by the university.

It was a great experience but a complex process in the beginning. Growing up in the middle east and going to a Canadian university, I had to write an english examination even though I went to an international school. However, after doing my research I found the process much easier. I applied and when I got in, and started studying I found my classes very interesting and insightful.

    Fees :

Approximately 20-25k for Internationals in Arts, Education and similar programs. Science and Engineering and Management are 40k. Scholarships can cover for first year merit based more than half of your tuition, but after that gets much less. Financial aid are good with giving bursary and loans. All in all, internationals are taken into great priority and I am able to assist more given the chance to work with potential students at McGill as an ambassador for more details.

I finished c_gep at Dawson college in 2019 and was looking for a social work program offered in English and close to montreal, because not only do I love my home city, but I get to stay at home and have that extra support from my family and less anxiety. I applied to McGill's social work program because it is the only English university in Montreal that offers it. Concordia does not offer social work. I applied to McGill psychology as well as Concordia psychology as a back up. I got accepted into all programs!

    Fees :

Since I am from Quebec, my semester fee is $2000. I know it can cost a lot more for out of province and out of country students. There are scholarships available for people in minority groups, low income and school involvement such as sports or high grades. There can also be financial support from the government.

I have known about McGill University since I was around the age of 15. I discovered it one day when I was walking the streets of Montreal with my family. Four years later, I found myself intrigued by McGill, it's a beautiful campus and it's a wide choice of great programs. The admission process, from what I remember, was pretty straightforward.

    Fees :

I pay approximately $1,800 per semester for a total of around $3,200 per year, depending on the number of courses taken and extra fees within courses. For my excellent grades during my second year, I was awarded a prize called the "Raymond L. Conklin Prize". This is a prize awarded to a student in the faculty for $375.

It is one of the best universities that offer great academic programs and I applied at many other colleges as well but was lucky enough to get admission in this college only. Also, I managed to get funding from the government to sponsor my studies and made my journey much easier. Thanks a lot to the university.

    Fees :

I have to pay approximately $45000 on a yearly basis. For ancillary fees, I paid $1300. The health insurance sums up to $1500. McGill Scholarships & Awards and McGill Financial Aid are the financial assistance available for me.

It is among the top-rated University in the world and the supervisor is very good at his work. My supervisor applied for funding, which was finally accepted and then he agreed to call me here to work my PhD under him. The infrastructure and the working environment is very good and the method of research is also very efficient.

    Fees :

The tuition fee per semester is $9000. Thanks to the funding of my supervisor, I have been under the scholarship/stipend, where my fee is waived off. There are other scholarships that I can apply for like NSERC or FRQNT. There are some scholarships provided by McGill itself for its students, like Travel awards.

Because it is well known and the fees for international students is much cheaper than U.S. and arguably UK. The school is great and it is more safe than American schools. I applied for 9 schools - 5 of which were on the UK system where you get to pick 5 schools and the rest were U.S. and Canada. This is why I chose this school.

    Fees :

there are merit-based and varsity scholarships for international students. around 25k per year for tuition. i was not awarded a scholarship but was awarded a bursary of 3k. there are limited scholarships for internationals, more competitive faculties such as management and engineering as tuition is double arts.

Because of it's reputation in research and because it was an English school in my area. I also really did not want to leave the province I am living in so McGill seemed like the clear choice. It also had an option to apply to honours in my second year which I really liked as it would motivate me to stay on top of my work in my first year.

    Fees :

The fees are well explained in the fee-overview that is available at the beginning of every semester.

McGill University - Quebec, canada: 14 answered questions

Ques. Which university should I go to for a master’s in Analytics, University of Cincinnati or McGill?

    ● Top Answer By Gaurav Kalsi on 03 Feb 21

Ans. The engineering and IT schools at the University of Cincinnati work alongside each other on many aspects including analytics too. The IT school has a reputation for having the fastest growth in the entire university. P&G, GE, Cincinnati Bell, Great American Insurance, Western-Southern Life, Kroger, Macy’s, are some of the companies with which the school partnered which means great placement opportunities. Ques. In what ways can McGill University surpass the reputation of the University of Toronto?

    ● Top Answer By Aishwarya Bhatnagar on 13 Jan 21

Ans. Both universities are probably among the most popular Canadian Universities. McGill and UToronto both have exceptional reputation in the US so it doesn't matter much to people about the differences in their rankings. Your choice is between two well-known and highly in-demand universities. At most, you should consider your choice of department and see how your university stands for that particular subject. World Rankings are instantaneous; they change annually and are a little vague. McGill is a top Canadian university in global QS rankings, depending on which survey you use, there are many ways McGill tops the ranks among similar universities. Having one of the world's best medical programs, it also has an excellent life sciences program. Montreal also scores Toronto impressively for affordability and rating employer operation. The above is based on a survey of domestic and foreign graduate employers who look at the cities from which they prefer to hire. Both cities are in the top ten for their desirability, but Toronto is still ahead of the 10th ranking of this metric, which ranks first. Toronto is English while McGill is based in Montréal in the French province of Quebec. Toronto is English speaking. However, most courses at the university are held in English, and documentation of English competence is a prerequisite for the application.  There is a considerably larger population of students at the University of Toronto with 93,081 students registered in the academic year 2018-19. Of these, 20,296 (22%) students were graduate students and 23,019 (25%), foreign students. This is a lot of students, Toronto has one of the largest schools of students among institutions.Read more

Ques. What is it like to study physics at McGill University?

    ● Top Answer By Shivam Chaudhary on 13 Jan 21

Ans. The subject is very challenging and will definitely push you to do better. Your problem-solving abilities will improve while you pursue this problem, sometimes requiring endless hours of deep thinking. In final year you will find all this helpful, especially when you pick up advanced subjects. Homework and classes will take up most of your time and during exams, a crib sheet will be provided to you to solve problems that you have never heard of before. This is to give you a better foundation in all the major fields of your subject and might even cause a burnout. Still, with proper breaks and consistency you will definitely find it rewarding. Learning Physics at McGill University is for the development of problem-solving skills. With intense activities and deep thought, you’d be engrossed in and cultivated by the subject. Faculties actively look for (talented/interested) students looking for research and internships. Read more

Ques. What is your review of McGill University?

    ● Top Answer By Mayank Badhwar on 13 Jan 21

Ans. McGill University is undoubtedly a good place with world-class facility. It is one of the leading universities in North America. It is very competitive and has a broad student support system. The University admits students from all over the globe so you won’t feel out of place here. There were various nationalities and many students communicating 2-4 languages. On average, McGill graduates earn around 40,000 CAD to 108,000 CAD and are placed within 3-6 months of completing their studies. However, the support services for students and their administration staff might not meet your standards. Also, the atmosphere here can be a bit too intense because of their reputation and constant efforts to maintain their standing. Admission wise, being one of Canada's highest-ranking universities, the GPA and admission criteria is also very high. It has an acceptance rate of 41%, an articulate essay and strong recommendations are important. It’s located in Montreal which is a splendid city with great restaurants, nightclubs, and world-class museums a stone's throw from it. McGill is an excellent place providing lots of courses, financial help, facilities, and a good support system. There’s a wide variety of highly skilled faculty for pharmacy, psychology, healthcare, the business sector, sciences, education, engineering, music, arts, law, environmental and agriculture, computer sciences and many more. The dorms are located near the hill and the lake, suitable for comfort in the autumn and spring and for skating and hot chocolate in the winter. Some of the sleeping places are situated next to the Mond Royal, the Montreal "Central Park" featuring footpaths, cycling pads, and skiing trails. The stunning mountains are within 2 hours for climbing and skiing. Students are crucial, lessons are rigorous.Read more
