April 30: NTA may reduce the syllabus for NEET-UG Entrance Test by 30% for the session of 2021. 

Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) is a premier medical institute of India acknowledged as a centre of excellence for education and research. AFMC provides training to undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing students with assured career prospects in the defence services.

The college offers two UG courses - MBBS and B.Sc. nursing. As PG courses, the college offers various specializations with MD and MD/MS degrees, along with M.Sc. degree in Anatomy and Master’s degree in Hospital Administration. Other than the UG and PG courses, the college also offers PG Diploma courses as well as a number of Super speciality courses.

Application procedure for the UG courses starts in the month of April. For Super speciality and Postgraduate courses, applications are invited in the month of July and September respectively. For admission to these courses, the candidate must fill up AFMC Application Form which is available for download at the Institute’s website.

  • A candidate should be a citizen of India or be a subject of Nepal or Bhutan or a person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan or any other foreign country with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • The candidate must be unmarried. Marrying during the course is not permitted.
  • Should be medically fit as per prescribed standards by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence.

Note: The AFMC MBBS Cut off will be announced after the declaration of NEET-UG Cut off. The AFMC Cut off will be displayed on the university website after a few days of completion of the NEET written test.

AFMC MBBS and B.Sc. Nursing Admission 2020

The college offers Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) degrees at the UG course level. MBBS course is offered for a duration of five years and the B.Sc. course is offered for a period of four years.

Admission to the MBBS course is offered through NEET-UG and the candidates eligible for the B.Sc. course need to sit for an AFMC Entrance Exam conducted by the college. The shortlisted candidates are then called up for the Interview rounds.

Key Points:

  • Selected candidates in the B.Sc. Nursing course will be required to execute a bond of agreement to serve in the Military Nursing Service for a minimum period of 5 years.
  • Male nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme must submit a Certificate of completion of a course of 6- 9 months duration approved by INC in lieu of midwifery.
Course  Seats Eligibility Selection Criteria
MBBS 130 students (105 boys & 25 girls) Candidates must have obtained minimum 60% in 10+2 examination in the first attempt as a regular candidate with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken simultaneously, 50% in these three science subjects taken together, 50% in English and 50% in each of the science subjects. Must have also passed an examination in Mathematics of the 10th standard. Merit-based followed by NEET-UG Entrance Exam Score.
B.Sc. Nursing 40 10+2 with three years Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery with minimum two years experience in the profession. The candidate should have not less than 50% aggregate marks in all subjects. The candidate should have passed the examination in a single attempt. Merit-based followed by Scores obtained in the AFMC Entrance Exam conducted by the Institute.

Application Process

For MBBS course:

  1. Candidates need to register for NEET from the official website 
  2. Application fee for the test:
    • General / OBC candidates - Rs. 1400
    • SC / ST / PH candidates - Rs. 750
  3. Application fee should also be paid online

For B.Sc. Nursing course:

  • Candidates need to fill in the AFMC Application Form in order to sit for the AFMC entrance test. 
  • The prescribed application fee can be paid online or through e-challan at Syndicate Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI or HDFC bank

AFMC PG Admission 2020

AFMC offers four different PG degrees for the graduates in Medical discipline. The MD degree is offered with 16 different specializations and the 5-year MS/MD degree is offered with 3 different specialization subjects. The MD course is offered for a duration of 3 years while the M.Sc. and MHA degree is offered for a duration of two years.

Admission to all these courses are through NEET-PG and the application process starts in the month of September.

Key Points:

  • 50% seats are reserved for candidates under All India Quota
  • Candidates who have studied/passed MBBS from the state of Jammu & Kashmir and Erstwhile Andhra Pradesh are not eligible for 50% All India Quota

AFMC Super Speciality Admission 2020

The college also offers a number of Super Speciality and Para-medical courses in the field of medicine and surgery. M.Ch. is offered under four different specializations along with DM and Ph.D. degree as Superspeciality courses.

A number of para-medical training courses are also offered at AFMC, Pune that also includes BPMT and Technical Trade Training. Admission to these curses will be Merit-based followed by Scores obtained in the AFMC Entrance Exam conducted by the Institute.

    Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) provides MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. nursing and BASLP courses for which admission is conducted through MHT-CET. Admission to these courses is conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research. Candidates are required to fill application form online on www.dmer.org or www.mhtcet.co.in. Once candidates will fill the application form they will be provided with a unique username and password which will be helpful for future use. Application fee can be submitted through a bank challan in any branch of State bank of India. After filling the fee for application form candidates will find a confirmation page which is to be saved for later uses. Admit card for the test is to be obtained from official website.       Admission :

      First the aspirant have to appear for NEET conducted by NTA in the month of June. After neet scores are announced through MCC website the person is required to apply for AFMC. A merit list out of all applicants is prepared and people are called for screening test, Called as TOeLR, Psychological assessment and thdn interview followed by medical checkup. After all of the candidates get screened a final merit list is drawn and in the first week of July the people on the merit list are called for admission.

      College is mnaged very well according to army rules and regulations and the training officer makes things happen accordingly.

      First you have to appear in neet exams. A cutoff is decided by the body present at afmc.they will call the interested students who opted for afmc during mci counseling. Students are called for interview, fitness test & Pat & toelr. On the basis of interview, neet marks & toelr a final merit list is released.

      Remarks :

      Hi Nimeesha, yes, there is uniform for both boys and girls in the college. In the first few months, girls wear white salwar kameez with black shoes. No piercings or tattoos are allowed for any student. After 2-3 months, beige short sleeved shirts and pants with white webbing belt; maroon tie with the AFMC crest, maroon socks and brown shoes. Brass AFMC epaulets and semester pins (denoting the semester number) on the shirt collar. This uniform is the same for all students.

      Hi Siva, yes, the college offers P.hD but in Pathology only. Students who have done post graduation in the relevant field with an aggregate of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) from a recognized university are eligible to apply for admission.
