Pramukhswami Medical College (PSMC) was established in 1987 and is affiliated to the Sardar Patel University. It has been accorded recognition by the Medical Council of India (MCI). 

PSMC offers a full time Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) courses of five and a half years duration for the candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, English and Biology as their main subjects. 

Admission to this program is through Nation/ University Entrance Exam through National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). Candidates can submit the application online for NEET registration. 

Candidates who have Pre-Professional/ Pre-Medical Examination with Chemistry, Physics and Biology after passing the Higher Secondary School Examination are also eligible for this MBBS degree admission.

For Post Graduate Level, the college offers three years of Master of Medicine (MS) or Master of Surgery (MS) course along with a two year Diploma course. For getting admission, Candidate should have a MBBS degree from a recognized Institution or any of the State Medical Councils of India. 

Selection of the candidate is done on the basis of the Entrance test conducted as per the guidelines of Medical Council of India and other concerned authorities.

The college admits 150 students every year for a five and a half course (including one year of compulsory internship) culminating in a Bachelor of Medicine degree and a Bachelor of Surgery ((MBBS) degree. It also offers Post Graduate Courses in eighteen broad specialities with a total intake of 49 Degree (MS/MD) seats and 21 Post Graduate Diploma seats.

PSMC Admission

MBBS- Admission to this program is through National/ University level entrance exam viz. National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET UG)

MD/MS- Admission in MD/MS/Diploma is done through entrance exam conducted as per guidelines of MCI.

How to Apply?

  • Candidates need to get themselves registered by applying in the prescribed form for registration for UG /PG courses of the Sardar Patel University.
  • Within 1 month of admission the college will collect the registration fees and credit to the University ordinarily in the beginning of the academic term or at any time suitable to the college. 
  • None of the PG students during the entire period of their PG studentship/studies will be allowed to take up any employment or to do any private practices. They will have to work as full time PG students in the respective department.
  • The students who have been registered as postgraduate students would be required to pay regularly the prescribed fee due to the college before the due date.
  • A candidate may be registered for a postgraduate degree or diploma. The period of registration for Postgraduate degree or diploma will end with the completion of the required terms. Simultaneous registration for PG degree/ Diploma in other subject shall not be permitted.
  • Every candidate for registration shall fill up the form accompanied by the registration fees, supporting documents and submitted to the University, through the Dean or through the person so authorized by them within the time limit as indicated.

The museum attached to the departments of Anatomy, Community, Medicine, Pathology, Forensic Medicine and Pharmacology offer a Treasure trove of information. Library: PSMC has an excellent library Facility. The Central Library subscribes to most of the national and international journals required for undergraduate and postgraduate students and faculty, as per the MCI norms. It is equipped with all the modern facilities such as the internet, CD-ROMs, computers, audio-visual aids and photocopying facilities. In addition it also subscribes to Electronic Journal Package for over 1000 journals. The reading room of the library is open 24 hours including all Sundays and public holidays. The library has also subscribed to MD consult and EBSCO hosts two databases which permits online access to full texts of articles in a number of journals.

Mentorship Programme: The College has a unique mentorship programme for their undergraduate students. In each year, 10 students are allotted one mentor teacher who regularly, through mentorship sessions, interacts with the student mentors, where the issues like attendance, academic performances, hostel life in campus, and any other problems faced by the students are discussed, with the aim of providing psychological and moral support.

Hostel Facilities: The hostels, located within the campus, are administered by Wardens and have round the clock security. Shard furnished accommodations at the hostels, is provided to Resident doctors, whose services are required for hospital services, on first-cum-first served basis and at the discretion of the Management. Rules governing allotment of accommodation are followed in case of those provided accommodations at the hostels. Admission to the course does not, however, guarantee hostel accommodations.

Ques. What is the procedure of admission for general quota?

Ans. The admission for the General Quota seats is done by the Admission Committee of the Government of Gujarat. The detail of the admission process is available in the prospectus published by the Government and also available on its website www.medadmbjmc.in

Ques. What is the age limit to apply for NET UG?

Ans. Candidates must attain 17 years of age by December 31, 2020 to sit for NEET 2020. There is no upper age limit for NEET 2020 as per an interim order of the Supreme Court. However, the candidature of aspirants more than 25 years of age is subject to the Supreme Courts' orders.

Ques. Is there a Counselling procedure for admission?

Ans. Yes, there is a Counselling procedure for UG courses and PG courses. There is the authority for NEET 2020 Gujarat State Counselling, ACPUGMEC stands for Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses.
