What students say about BP Poddar Institute of Management and Technology

Likes

  • There are the best faculty members. They provide all the equipment and technology needed to develop our skills.
  • Yes, an internship is provided and a stipend is given to those who receive very good marks and are selected from among them.
  • The best thing is that 90% of the students are placed after the end of the placement season.
  • I am really happy that our college provides some scholarships as well as loan facilities.
  • There is, however, a lack of space in the college, but it is made up for by the excellent people and environment.
  • Hostel life is the best life in any students college life. The quality of the food is excellent, and the discipline should always be maintained in our hostel.
  • The best thing about my college is that there is no ragging inside the campus or the hostels. If anyone is found, they are suspended for a few weeks and must come with their parents.

Dislike

  • The college does not provide any internships; only a few selected students are given internships, which are basically training.
  • They provide scholarships to a very limited number of students based on certain criteria or significant reasons. They do not offer loan facilities for students.
  • The meal quality is very bad, with the meat being one of the worst I have ever known in my life.
  • Bad remark: The food in the canteen is horrible.

Placement Experience:

For placements, the eligibility is from the 5th semester, as companies come with various exams. The official drive begins in our 7th sem, which lasts for a year. We have seen Infosys, Cognizant, PWC, EY, Accenture, IBM, and such companies that help us get placed. Their packages average out at around 5LPA. We have seen the highest package from Maventic so far, with 7 LPA, and have around 90 % placed students. After my degree, I intend to join PwC full-time.

Remarks:

For our admission, we were asked to visit their office in Park Street and sign all the necessary papers works. Taking into account, all the paperwork and prospectus, the admission process cost for me was Rs. 74,500. This amount may vary in today's date, with an estimated inflation of 5 % on what I have already stated. To be eligible for Electrical Engineering, I had to score a rank of 27,500 in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). As I had no reservations, I am unclear on the matter. Overall, when taking admission into B.P Poddar, you need to be ready for a physical visit, along with four to five hours of paperwork and waiting, which is the only thing I wish would change. Also, you are to carry 4 copies of your photo, mark sheet xerox, identity proofs ( Voter, aadhar, PAN ), and their xerox. As the office is in Park Street, as long as you have the original documents (Mail sent by them), you can xerox them nearby.

Placement Experience:

When you will be in your 7th sem company will start to visit your campus. You will get a clear idea of placements if you visit bppimt.ac.in and look for placement details for the last 5 years. in my year about 25-30 company has visited our campus already and a few are yet to come. till now the highest package is 10lpa. the company visited and pool campuses: Infosys, cognizant, Accenture, Hexaware, TCG, Lab vantage, NRI fintech, Kreeti, PWC, ey, Jio, HSBC, Johnson controls, kovair, nucleus software, SAP labs, and many more. 150 + students got an offer of 6lpa or more if you are a little serious then you will get a job on this campus and if you are a hard-working student you will get a higher package too. I will join kreeti technologies as a junior software engineer after my degree and now I am an intern at that company too.

Remarks:

To get into BP Poddar institute you have to clear either WBJEE or JEE MAIN. 90 % of the seats are reserved for the Wbjee category and the rest 10% are reserved for jee main category. I took admission in 2019 in B.Tech(IT).In 2019 cut-off was like for cse 15000 and IT 23000 and now the cut-off is going slightly high in current years. No need to apply separately to this college. You have to put the college at the time of counseling and if you get selected you have to go for physical verification and details will be provided by the WBJEE board. There you have to visit and before that, you have to make a payment of 5000. But if you take admission to this college then that amount will be adjusted with your tuition fees. No reservation for SC/ST/OBC. But you can avail TFW scheme if you are eligible. The only cons in their admission process are, you have to visit their park street office for admission that is far away from the main campus, and for uniforms as well.

Placement Experience:

The placement Percentage is about 87%. From 7 sem a student becomes eligible for campus placement. In this year, the highest package is 17 LPA and avg package is 6.45. In our college so many companies like TCS, Capgemini, Byjus, Cognizant, EY etc visit.

Remarks:

In our college the admission process is same as other colleges in West Bengal. Here admission process is conducted on the basis of WBJEE exam and JEE Main. For admission process, students have to go Park Street where admission centre is situated but our college is located at VIP road, near Haldirams.

Placement Experience:

From the 7th sem, you become eligible for placements. companies include EY, Sap laps, Amazon, etc.(2022). Roles include SDE, marketing, etc. Highest-19lpa(Amazon-SDE) Average -4.5lpa.(TCS, infosys, Wipro etc.) On average students do get 3-4 offers. The percentage of students getting placed is around 85%. Even I would try for on-campus placements.

Remarks:

I took the West Bengal Joint Entrance exam and after securing a rank between 10-18k(general trend) I sat for the Wbjee Counselling where I was allotted colleges through 3 consecutive rounds. The first two rounds were upgradation rounds and the last one was mop-up. Although I belong to the general category, my friends who are Sc/St/obc also said that merit rank was the same for them as well. Well financially weak students, have to pay 10k-12k for the entire four years. One thing Wbjee should improve is their customer care people. They charge you for registration,. but when it comes to providing assistance on call, their customer support is worthless.
