Likes
- IEM is ranked as the 3rd best engineering college in West Bengal, following IIT Kharagpur and NIT Durgapur, according to NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework). It is also ranked 79th nationwide, alongside all IITs and NITs.
- The college Internship and Training Department is very good and cooperative with the students. Students are allowed to apply to any company through it.
- My college placement is very good; I got selected in two companies during these placement sessions.
- Now that I have taken admission, the fee is around 6 lakh for the entire 4 years. It increases when MAKAUT, its parent university, instructs them to do so.
- The infrastructure is good, wifi is available, a canteen is there, and the library and labs of our college are awesome. However, there is a lack of a playground.
- Hostel facilities are very good, but the food quality in the hostels is not as good.
- As mentioned earlier, the best part of this college is the teaching faculty, placements, and the college lacks in infrastructure.
Dislike
- The only problem is that there is no campus life, being it a too small campus.
- Yes, if you have potential, you would land in a much better place than on-campus placements and internships.
- There is also a tuition fee waiver plan for poor students, in which their tuition fees are around 5k each semester.
- Labs are very small and poorly equipped. Practicals are conducted in groups of 5-6 students per machine/equipment.
- Students only get there because initially they have nowhere to go, but after the authorities impose a one-year restriction, they escape as quickly as possible.
- My college has a very bad policy where if a student does not attend at least 80% of the classes, the management does not allow them to appear for the exams.

In this college, the admission process is more flexible. IEM Kolkata is the best college in West Bengal It offers many courses but I enrolled on btech in civil engineering. Reservation is more beneficial than others on

The eligibility is 12th Pass in PCM. Admission was done on the ranks of the WBJEE exam. There were rounds of counselling through which seats were allocated.No reservation being a private college. There is also a management quota in this college.

Eligibility for the course is very simple. If should have scored at least 60% in your board examination. Clear the WBJEE entrance exam with a good rank (3000-4000) and get admission after counselling. One can also take admission through management quota. The admission process is quite simple. I think no improvement is required.
