Ques. What is life after PGDIE from NITIE?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 28 Aug 21

Ans. PGDIE opens various opportunities in different areas like industrial engineering, industrial design, Supply chain, and operations management. After completion of this course, you can expect yourself to be working at one of the top companies in India.  Most of my friends got placed in an FMCG company and are currently working in different domains. You will be given challenging projects every now and then. This will groom you for a business scenario. A good college will not guarantee a high-paying job in a top company, but it will only provide you with the best academics and exposure you will need in securing that job.  Working in an FMCG company will make your presence realize whenever you find your designed product in a supermarket. You will work hard enough to deliver the right product at right time. Maintain very good academic records and prepare hard enough to get a job in a top company that offers very good opportunities and facilities to its employees, then your life after PGDIE can be great. Read more

Ques. How is the placement scenario in the PGDIE course at NITIE?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 28 Aug 21

Ans. The placement scenario for PGDIE at NITIE is outstanding as a lot of reputed companies visit the campus during placements. These include Abbott, Aditya Birla, Tata Sky, Flipkart, Accenture, Exide, Cognizant, Grofers, Ola, Cloudtail, Myntra, Marico, Reliance, Airtel and many other companies.  A total of 121 companies have visited the campus and the students have received around 130 pre-placement offers. The highest domestic package offered is 44 LPA and the average package offered is 20.85 LPA.  Most of the companies take GD first and then personal interviews, but finance and consulting companies have a different approach. They shortlist the students based on their resumes and then take their interviews. They also take an aptitude test which requires having good knowledge of the subject and decent mathematical skills.  If you have prepared hard enough to present yourself in the interviews, then you will surely get placed in a top company. You should know everything about your resume and should always answer the questions with confidence.Read more

Ques. How tough is it to get PGDIE course of NITIE for an average student regarding GD/PI and GATE score?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 28 Aug 21

Ans. PGDIE is one of the flagship courses of NITIE and getting admission in this course is very difficult. The cut-off of CAT is very high and if you can clear it, then you will have to appear for the GD-PI round. This round is very important and carries the highest weightage for your admission.  There are several other factors that have an impact on the decision for your admission. It includes your 10th & 12th marks, your graduation marks, and any prior work experience if you have any.  The chances are higher for the students who are coming from an Operations background. Even if you are a fresher from a mechanical or electrical branch, your chances of getting a seat will be much higher than the rest of the students.  Considering all of the factors mentioned, your overall profile will be evaluated and a consolidated merit list will be prepared. For this year, the GATE score for PGDIE was 609 for General candidates.Read more

Ques. Which is better after the GATE, joining NITIE or PSU?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 28 Aug 21

Ans. NITIE is the best option to go for after clearing GATE. Most people opt for PSUs because it allows earning money directly without having to study further. But, in the long run, NITIE provides more diversified career opportunities. You will also find students at NITIE having experience working at PSU for a year or two. For summer internships and final placements, many big companies such as Walmart, Uber, Flipkart, Amazon, Hindustan Unilever, BMW, Maersk, Shell, Nestle, P&G, Yes Bank, etc. come to the campus. Placements are really good and like any other top B-school in India. The average package is around 18 LPA. If you are a hard-working person, your career and salary both will have a steep growth. Working at a PSU will take you almost 10 to 12 years even to double your initial salary. The workload is almost similar to a PSU employee of the oil marketing sector such as IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, etc., after graduating from NITIE. I am not even exaggerating, the workload at these PSUs is heavy.Read more

    Admission :

Wrote GATE & used the score for clearing initial screening process for taking admission in the 2-year flagship programme, PGDIE. Post selection basis GATE score (institute revises cut-off every year), received call for group discussion & interview. Institute releases merit list in 2 weeks. One needs to be an engineer to apply to NITIE. PGDIE course is the flagship programme of NITIE & 2015-2017 batch was the 45th batch. This techno-managerial course focuses mainly on Supply Chain & Operations, and prepares one to take on real world challenges effectively & efficiently. This course is renowned among industries & the ROI (ratio of median placement package to investment) is the second highest in India (highest being FMS, Delhi). The strong alumni connect coupled with industry focused curriculum helps students to bag the best jobs in the country.

    Admission :

Admissions are done on the basis of merit in the entrance exam. I applied with the MAT entrance exam and applied to some of the decent colleges near my hometown. My application got shortlisted for the counseling round and there on it was a pretty smooth process. This particular college, being closer to my house, was my ultimate choice.

    Remarks :

My journey with the NITIE college was a roller coaster ride. I learned a lot and at the same time had a lot of fun. Our college was pretty supportive of us and guided us for the job prospects and helped us in getting placed. Infrastructure was reluctantly great and the faculty was pretty thorough in their approach.

    Admission :

Admission to the college is entrance based. I missed the CAT exam, so I appeared for the MAT exam. My entrance test scores were not that bad. I downloaded the form from the official website and filled all the latest updates and sent it to the college. After that, the selection process was pretty smooth. My brother who studied from this very college suggested to me this college and this program.
