What students say about Sardar Patel College of Engineering - [SPCE]

Likes

  • One faculty per 30 students would be good, considering we have 3 branches and approximately 25-30 faculty members.
  • Internship opportunities are not that great; however, the college gives letters of recommendation to the students. However, students have to find internship opportunities on their own, and the college may assist them if required in finding internships.
  • Even though there was a recession, the college saw a very good pool of companies coming for the interviews.
  • As the college is an autonomous institute, it gets its funds from the Maharashtra government.
  • The campus of SPCE is the best campus in Mumbai after IITB, and it shares its campus with SPJIMR and SPIT over 70 acres of land.
  • The hostel is good and is located inside the campus, so people do not have to rush for college lectures.
  • The college is the best and the management is also great. There are good placement opportunities as well.

Dislike

  • I will give a rating of 5/10. The course structure is not well-designed and lacks practical and real-life cases. It is outdated and does not prioritize project work. There are excessive and pointless assignments and exams, with no emphasis on practical sessions

Placement Experience:

After semester 6 Placement preparation starts but in breaks, students can avail of various internships. This year 100 % of placement was from the electrical branch while a mechanical student secured the highest package of 26-27lpa. Students here are also on in govt. Exams prep and GATE and GRE many students are also studying for Masters abroad. So post-campus life is somewhat stable. I have planned to pursue a master' after my bachelor's.

Remarks:

Students are required to clear MHTCET with a good score of a minimum 97 percentile if they are in a general category. Students have to move through CAP rounds as decided by the MHTCET cell. Students of SC/ST or OBC quota can avail benefits of percentile reduction as well they would be having a discounted fee of 4,648 which is very great for them. Students of the EWS category are too eligible for similar but a little tighter benefits.
