Model College was established in the year 1989. The college is affiliated with the University of Mumbai in 2003, Mumbai. The college offers education in under-graduation courses in B.Com. and B.Sc. and post-graduation in M.Sc. and M.Com. It has been providing not only traditional grant-in-aid courses in Commerce but also self financing, job oriented courses in Commerce stream like BMS, B.Com Accounting and Finance, B.Com Banking and Insurance and B.Com Financial Markets. 

Apart from these, there are other professional courses being offered like B.Sc Information Technology, BSc Computer Science, Bachelor in Mass Media and Science at junior college level to cater to the demands of the industry. The college is also running centre for post graduate courses M.Com in Accountancy, Management and Banking and Finance from the year 2009.

Model College Admission

Selection criteria:

For UG , Selection will be based on merit in the qualifying exam followed by the counselling. For PG , Selection depends upon merit score in the qualifying exam

  • B.Sc. Admissions - If any candidate seeks to take admission in B.Sc Computer science, then the candidate needs to 10+2 cleared with 35% of marks, and Candidates with diploma in Engineering or computer science are eligible to apply for the first year B.Sc. program. On the other hand, if the candidates want to take admission in B.Sc.(IT) then the Candidate needs to be pass in the higher secondary examination in the science stream with at least 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate. A further selection is done based on merit.
  • B.Com Admissions - The eligibility criteria are Pass in 10+2 with at least 45% marks (40% marks by SC/ST candidates). The selection is done based on merit followed by counselling.
  • BMS Admissions - The basic eligibility criteria are to qualify for the HSC exam. After that selection is done based on merit.
  • M.Sc. Admissions - The candidates who are passed in B.Sc. with at least 45% marks from a recognized university. Selection will be based on merit in the qualifying examination.
  • M.Com Admissions - The candidates who are passed in B.Com.or BMS from a recognized university are eligible to take admissions in M.Com. Selection will be based on merit in the qualifying examination.

How to Apply?

The admission process is common for every course. For applying for any course, students have to visit the college campus. Then they need to collect the form and then start filling that. Follow these steps:-

Model college provides ample facilities to its students. Some of them are listed below:

NSS:-Model college, Thane provides NSS facilities to students to grow and develop personally. The college has two units of 100 students each.

Anti-ragging:- The college has an anti-ragging squad which prevents to accomplish of ragging regarding tasks. This is for the security of the new students.

Libraries:- The university is having a big library which is equipped with varied categories of books, journals, magazines. 

Canteen:- There is the availability of the college canteen for students and faculties to have their lunch-brunch over there.

Model College Faculty

College hires only post-graduate and Ph.D. teachers to teach respective subjects of different courses. Teachers share their experiences related to the topic for a better understanding of students. Practical activities are scheduled regularly along with theoretical knowledge. There are 3 teachers for each subject. All teachers have the qualifications more than post-graduation. Among them, one is head of the department and two others are the contractual lecturer. All the responsibility of the department is on the HOD.
