Ques. Which college is better between SVKM's NMIMS and the ISB for an MBA?

● Top Answer By Komal Chawla on 22 Jul 21

Ans. ISB Hyderabad is the better option among the two. It ranks among the top-50 B-Schools in the world. ISB Hyderabad's PGP admits students on the basis of their prior work experience. They expect each candidate to carry at least 2 years of work experience. It is the only flagship program of ISB Hyderabad. All Mohali and Hyderabad campuses demonstrate the same kind of experience. But when it comes to the campus choice, you don’t get to choose it. All of them have the same sort of traits. Placements are campus neutral and happen in one place. The career advancement service department at ISB includes 20+ members who provide the best job opportunities to the students from companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Google, Deloitte, Amazon, etc. The visiting professors come from institutes Duke, Wharton, Kellogg, etc. All the faculties hold a Ph.D. and have their own journals published internationally. All these factors make ISB one of the best management schools in India.Read more

Ques. How good is the Management Programme for Family Business in ISB Hyderabad?

● Top Answer By Kanu Priya on 12 Mar 21

Ans. I can share my brother’s experience for SP Jain School for Global Management. The Global Family Managed Business (Global FMB) is an innovative 12-month Tri-City programme. It is designed to provide the knowledge, skills and attitude required for family-managed businesses to address challenges that are unique to family-managed businesses. Global intelligence is a unique consequence of the Global FMB programme as participants are given opportunities to live and study at our campuses in Dubai, Mumbai and Singapore, and as a result, develop the skills necessary to take their business global. For those aspiring to enter the corporate sector, a traditional Master's programme is ideal. The FMB of S P Jain acknowledges that family businesses have unique business and family challenges involving ownership and management issues, and is designed to incorporate comprehensive coverage of these issues.  S P Jain's GFMB promotes all-round development covering all dimensions of family business so that you can operate with experts in all fields.Read more

Ques. What is the cost of doing FPM in ISB Hyderabad?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 26 Mar 21

Ans. It is to be cleared first that the FPM course is completely equivalent to a Ph.D degree. It takes approximately 4-5 years to complete, along with accurate learning and research work. The fact is that ISB generally pays Rs. 40000 as a stipend along with House Allowances to the candidates who are doing FPM on a full-time basis. Thereby you are not required to pay anything from their own pocket, but they can earn 40 thousand per month. However, the most important thing is that FPM requires accuracy to complete the study without spending money. So, you have to study with full accuracy, and earn support from this institute to carry on your personal and family expenses. You have to enroll as a full-time candidate and should not have any other source of income.  If you have any other second income, then it will not work. After completing this program, the student will get unlimited rewards, considering their knowledge and income.Read more

Ques. Why it is continuously hard for IIM A, B, C, XLRI to compete with ISB in executive program in spite of it being just 15 years old?

● Top Answer By Sudeshna Bhar on 02 Jun 21

Ans. One of my friends at ISB claims that the main reason for ISB Hyderabad to hold the top position in the executive program over the years. It is its core competency rather than just competing with institutes like IIMs and XLRI, who lead in the 2-year MBA and PGDM programs.  The points below provide a brief overview of the success story of ISB Hyderabad. ISB Hyderabad has been developing with a work experience of above two years at least.  Due to the shorter time span of the executive program, it is more popular and in demand.  In the traditional MBA program, the curriculum is an extension to the undergraduate program, emphasizing mostly classroom learning.  ISB Hyderabad has somewhat established a cheaper alternative to the so-called American MBA system.  There are collaborations with companies like Kellogg’s, which helped in fulfilling the demand for a world-class MBA degree. They have a lot of contribution in its breaking into the Indian executive MBA program market.  It has resulted in a program that is half-priced as the American MBA programs.  The program in ISB is just 11 months, as opposed to the 24 months MBA program from other institutes. For fresh graduates, IIMs are always the first priority, which offers a standard 2-years MBA degree. The core competency of IIMs is to train the less experienced students. But, in the last few years, IIMs are getting into the executive programs in MBA, but those are treated under the non-core segment. Although ISB charges twice as much as IIMs at present times, it has been the first choice for working professionals for the reasons stated above. The core competency of ISB discussed above makes it the clear winner in executive education, which the IIMs and XLRI cannot defeat.Read more

Ques. Which is better, ISB Hyderabad or IIM Ahmedabad for 1 year executive MBA?

● Top Answer By Jyotshna Ranjan on 16 Jan 21

Ans. Choosing which is the better college among the others can be a daunting task if you don’t have certain parameters to decide upon. Not one or two, too many MBA aspirants get confused in choosing among these two colleges. There are certain prerequisites that can help you choose which one is better than the other.  Ranking: [Winning Institute - IIM, Ahmedabad] Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad stands out at the top among all B-Schools in most of the rankings. IIM, Ahmedabad is ranked #1 in NIRF 2020 ranking among all the management colleges in India. It is also the top IIM. Fees: [Winning Institute - IIM, Ahmedabad] The program fees for PGPX 2021-22 at IIM- Ahmedabad is INR 28 LPA while for the same program, the fees at ISB-Hyderabad is 39 LPA. Clearly, pursuing an executive MBA at IIM Ahmedabad will be more pocket friendly.  Number of Seats: (ISB Hyderabad > IIM Ahmedabad) This is an important factor to be considered before you even think to apply for the PGPX program at IIM Ahmedabad.  IIMs usually have a very less number of seats and undoubtedly, the competition to grab that one seat is also very high.  On the other hand, ISB, Hyderabad has an excess of seats for the executive MBA program which is the major reason why most of the MBA aspirants are targeting to get into the ISB, Hyderabad.  Admission Criteria:  To pursue an executive MBA from ISB, Hyderabad, a GMAT score of 700-750 and a work experience of 4 years will be enough. Though the selection committee sets certain grounds for confirmation of admission depending upon the student’s ability and aptitude.  On the other hand, at IIM-Ahmedabad, the entire selection procedure includes analysis of GMAT/GRE score, work experience, and other scholastics. You will have to go through many filters to get one seat at IIM-A. Apart from the parameters mentioned above, ISB, Hyderabad has become one of the top priorities among MBA aspirants. With the ISB Young Leaders Program and Early Entry Option, the institute offers opportunities to apply to the programs at an early stage.  The institute that you choose for an executive MBA program must fulfill your requirements. Therefore, set your own parameters and then decide.Read more

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is slightly expensive compared to other business schools in the country, although it is cheaper than any 2 year international MBA. There is full transparency on fee breakdown and several loan options are also provided by the college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is well-structured and organized as it is a short span MBA of only 1 year. The professors at ISB are all of international fame and recognition (including visiting professors from renowned international schools such as Harvard, MIT, Emory, Stanford etc.). The exam and course structure is focused more on skills based lifelong learning. Several student run clubs also exist on campus that are organized into various sectors/industries such as consulting club, technology club, infra club etc. These clubs do organize company and industry visits for interested students.
