Amar Singh Government College, established in the year 1913 as Amar Singh Technical College was formally opened by Maharaja Pratap Singh. It is one of the oldest colleges in the Kashmir Valley.

Initially established as a center for imparting education in arts, culture and basics like masonry and carpentry, the college now offers various courses in the fields of Arts, Science and Commerce. Amar Singh College provides under-graduate courses like BA, BCA and B.Sc.

Ans. The college provides all the facilities like well-equipped classrooms, playground with sports facilities, library with a collection of 70,000 books, an auditorium for hosting seminars or events, Canteen with the provision of hygienic and nutritious food options, and computer labs equipped with all the modern computing devices.

Ques. How is the infrastructure of the college?

Ans. The college is spread across a campus area of 35 hectares. Within the campus, there are multiple academic buildings. This also includes the heritage buildings constructed in 1910 which reflect a blend of Anglo-Indian culture. The buildings have various subject departments like the Chemistry department, Computer Science Department, Teaching Staff Room, University Grants Commission Cell, IQAC Cell, NCC and NSS rooms as well. Apart from that, there are also six lecture theatres and three large halls for conducting exams.

Ques. Does the college provide hostel facilities?

Ans. Yes, the college provides hostel facilities on the backside of the main college building. The students are also given a mess facility wherein they are provided meals at different times of the day. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available in the food provided at the mess. The menu is rotated after regular intervals so that the students are not bored by the repetition of the same menu. The hostels have rooms that are well-furnished and ventilated. The rooms are let on a sharing basis.

My college

Admission:

The admission process was good I took an entrance exam and the eligibility of courses was zoology, chemistry, geography, botany etc. You can find the form on the cluster University website and application fee is 800 per subject and the application dates start in March I think. Lots of benefits if you get selected for the entrance test you can do a bachelor's and master's together if you get selected and the cut-off starts from 40 marks. No improvements are needed.

College campus faculty is good but administration lacks somtimes

Admission:

Hi! So our college was admitting students on a merit basis and I had 86 per cent in my 12th exams I got selected for Amar Singh college Srinagar. As it is govt. based college the campus is good but when it was time for submitting fee college administration announced to go bank for submitting fee and in the bank, we were in the queue for 2 consecutive days that was the worst experience ever in my life as it is the time of online transactions everything is working online. After that, we had our first sem exams in winter vacations when there is freezing cold everywhere so it's my experience in my college till now and I will hope for better
