What students say about Isabella Thoburn Degree College - [ITDC]

Likes

  • Our syllabus was updated according to Lucknow University, and all the facilities of our college are very good, be it curriculum, academics, or faculties.
  • Mostly, I handle management work in many cultural events as an intern, and I also work with Viacom as an intern.
  • There are great opportunities for jobs and placements. I am in contact with people who have obtained positions through the college and have extensive experience in their jobs and companies.
  • The college has an annual scholarship for the best performing and all-rounder students of the college.
  • The sports facilities are very good. Additionally, both the Wi-Fi and library are available in both AC and non-AC types.
  • I have taken the college hostel myself, and it is way better than I expected.
  • There are many reasons to take admission in my college such as education facilities, professional staff, cultural activities, supportive teachers, being the best college in Lucknow for girls, practical knowledge, and field work or practical knowledge visits being good here.

Dislike

  • I have no knowledge of this. I have not seen any notice of such sort yet, although I have seen a few placement notices. I guess they dont offer internships since I have not heard anything regarding this from my friends.
  • Very few companies ever visit the college, and even if they do, they only hire 4 to 5 students

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have an interest in academics and want to be a professor so that I can spread knowledge, that's why I have chosen this course. Faculty members are excellent in their fields. They are very helpful and supportive. They give advice apart from studies also and are very helpful and knowledgeable. They go with 1to 1 interact with the students and organise various seminars, career counselling programmes, and alumni meetings so as to acknowledge children about the several courses and college history. All the teaching faculty are PhD holders and stand excellent in their respective fields of knowledge. The teaching process is mainly done by the board system in this course and the classes are run by a systematic timetable which is provided by the faculty members themselves. There is a semester system and the exam is conducted every 6 months for the duration of 3 years if pursuing the undergraduate course. But according to NEP 3 years is shifted to 4 years. Exam pattern is very easy if the student has studied.

Remarks:

Only those candidates are eligible to apply who have completed 10+2 either with PCB or PCM with aggregate 50% marks. The application process is available on the college's official sites along with the helpline number and emails through which candidates can ask for queries Christian students are given more priority over non-Christians. Admission process is very sorted and needs not to be improved much according to me.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Due to my keen interest in life sciences, I opted for a B.Sc in biology. The student-to-faculty ratio is 40:1, which is quite good. The faculty is very good, everyone holds a PhD degree and is always eager to help the students. They use various teaching methods, usually by videos or in botany they take you to the plant you are studying about. Assessments were done on monthly basis and it was compulsory to give the tests, the results were put on the notice board by the end of the first week of the month. A detailed datasheet with the syllabus was provided in advance to the student.

Remarks:

An MCQ-based entrance exam was held based on the intermediate level. The application form is to be collected offline from the college campus which is strategically located in the city. I belong to the unreserved category but the college provides reservations as per the guidelines of Govt. of India. Being a minority college, it is an autonomous body, graded A by NAAC and it gives reservations to Christian girls. It is an all-girls college. I would really appreciate it if the admission process takes place virtually and if the college manages the website properly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was interested in the subjects so I chose the mentioned course. The culture of the college is appreciable because of the diversity. The faculty is qualified but the teaching method could be better by involving practical examples. The term exams were mostly scheduled in November or March. There were both objective and subjective exams in different semesters. Objective one was slightly tough.

Remarks:

It was based on the entrance. The application forms were available on the internet, also you could apply from the college itself. Reservations were mentioned in the guidelines. Additionally, there was a separate reservation for the Christian students.
