Eligibility Criteria

Specializations:

Arabic Hindi Physical Science
English Sanskrit Natural Science 
Malayalam Urdu Social Science
Mathematics

Students can check the relevant criteria for above mentioned disciplines with respect to Computer Science & Commerce group.

  • BA/B. Sc. Degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent to 10+2+3 pattern with minimum of 50% marks.
  • Candidates not having 50% marks in Part III of the degree course can also apply provided they possess 50% marks in the Post Graduate Degree.
  • SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under Teacher Quota need to pass in the Degree examination.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be allowed from the minimum required marks i.e, OEC candidates need only 45% 
    and OBC candidates 47% of marks.

Computer Science:

  • Candidates should have passed MCA/MSc. Computer Science/MSc Electronics of the University of Calicut or a Degree recognized as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under teacher quota need a mere pass in the qualifying examination.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be allowed from the minimum required marks i.e. OEC candidate’s need 45% and OBC candidates 47% of marks.
  • Candidates shall opt as optional subject for the B. Ed course only that main subject in which they have passed the B.A/ B. Sc. degree with the following exemptions.

a. Graduates in History/Geography/Economics/Political Science/Islamic History/Sociology/Philosophy/Psychology will be eligible for admission to B.Ed. Course with Social Science as optional subject.

b. Graduates in Statistics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects and candidates possessing B. Sc. applied statistics Degree will be eligible for admission to B. Ed. Course with Mathematics as optional subject.

c. Graduates in Home Science/Geology with Physics/Chemistry as subsidiary subjects will be eligible for admission to Physical Science and those with Botany/Zoology/Life Science as subsidiary subjects will be eligible for admission with Natural Science as optional Subject for the B.Ed. Course.

d. Candidates possessing B. Sc. Bio-Chemistry and B. Sc. Plant Science will be eligible for admission to Natural Science optional.

e. Candidates possessing B. Sc. Polymer Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry Degree will be considered for admission to Physical Science optional.

f. Candidates possessing B. Sc. Agricultural Degree with Bio-Chemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries will be eligible for admission to Natural Science optional.

g. Candidates possessing B. A. Functional English Degree will be eligible for B. Ed. admission in English optional.

  • Categories under IV should secure 50% marks in Part –III of their course.
  • SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under Teacher Quota need only a pass in the degree examination.

Commerce:

  • Candidates should have passed M.Com Degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under Teacher Quota need a mere pass in the qualifying examination.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be allowed from the minimum required marks i.e. OEC candidate’s need 45% and OBC candidates 47% of marks.

Admission Guidelines

Admission to all courses will be through Common Entrance Test following by merit list. All seats available in University of Calicut have been filled strictly on merit basis whether it is for Government, Aided, Un-Aided (Self – Financing) colleges.

Procedure of indexing of Merit list:

Marks obtained in 10+2 will be considered for merit list preparation. Deciding factors of merit list:

  1. If a student has scored more marks in 10+2 then he/she can easily satisfied the criteria of minimum marks required. Extra marks scored by him will work as bonus points for him/her.
  2. 15 marks will have been added in the total marks in case of children & widows of Ex-serviceman & Jawans.
  3. 15 marks will be awarded to those students who have been working in Illiteracy Education Programmes on volunteer basis from at least one year.
  4. 15 marks will be awarded to NCC & NSS cadets on priority basis, for e.g. priority will be given to A,B,C certificate holders.
  5. 10 point bonus will be given to forst rank holder in Kerala state Higher secondary or Vocational Higher Secondary Art Festivals.

Note: 10 point will be deducted for every successive attempt to clear the qualifying exam up to maximum of 25 marks ( for those students who would not be able to pass 10+2 exam in first attempt).

Seat Allotment:

Seats will be allotted by following three allotment processes for Government & Aided colleges & two processes for Un-aided colleges with respect to availability of vacancies.

  • First Allotment:
  1. After trial allotment, seat matrix on the basis of rank & priority order will be published, & all options below the published ranks will be automatically get cancelled. Students whose seat will be confirmed after first allotment have to pay the fee of INR 425 for General (100 for SC/ST).
  2. If a student is satisfied with the allotted seat then he/she can cancelled the remaining options.
  3. Students whose seat has been confirmed, has to report to the respective college along with original & photocopies of the documents.
  • Print out of the application (Taken at the time of form filling)
  • E-Challan or online payment slip
  • Age certificate
  • Marks sheet of qualifying exam
  • Transfer & code of conduct certificate
  • Income/nativity/community certificate, if applicable
  1. Confirmation of admission will be performed by respective college after cross checking of documents & information provided at the time form filling by the student. Information regarding admission should be conveyed to University of Calicut by the college.
  • Bifurcation of seats which have not been considered under CAP:
  1. Seats under Community quota (For Aided colleges only)
  2. Seats under Management quota (Applicable for Aided/Unaided & unaided courses)
  3. Sports quota
  4. Lakshdweep quota/ students of Kashmir (for affiliated colleges)
  5. PWD & mentally retarded students

Note: Admission to the new colleges & new courses will be made through traditional manner for those students only who have registered themselves for CAP. Trial allotments will be conducted to provide the clear picture regarding the exact allotment process.

  • Seats available under CAP:
  1. Seats available in Government  colleges excluding the seats reserved for students belongs to Union Territory of Lakshadweep, Tamil Linguistic Minority, Sports quota, Person with Disability & Mentally retarded students from Kashmir.
  2. Seats available in Aided colleges for students belong to open quota, SC & ST.
  3. Total 59% Seats are available in Un-Aided & for aided courses in Self- Financing colleges including the seats reserved for SC/ST/SEBC.
  4. Total 59% Seats are available in IHRD self-financing colleges subject to reservation as per Government rules.

Note: To claim reservation under any category students must register for CAP through Calicut University.
