Regional Institute of Education, Mysore is one of the five RIEs that cater to the educational needs of teachers/teacher educators in the States and UTs under their jurisdiction. It is also a constituent unit of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.

RIE Mysore offers two 4-year integrated degree programs in education, viz. B.Sc. Ed. and BA. Ed. at the undergraduate level. At the postgraduate level, the institute offers M.Ed. and M.Sc. Ed. programs. RIE Mysore also has Ph.D. programs for eligible candidates who have completed their Master’s degree course. All courses offered by the institute are recognized by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

Candidates applying for UG programs and PG programs must apply through NCERT-CEE only.
The application process for Ph.D. programs is offline.
Candidates must collect the application form from the institute campus.
Reserved category candidates and in-service candidates with three-year of regular teaching experience as teachers/ library professionals/ physical education instructors in educational institutions are allowed 5% relaxation in the minimum marks eligibility criteria.
To be eligible for UG programs, candidates should have passed 10+2 in relevant stream whereas PG candidates must have a Graduate degree in the concerned discipline.
Candidates are selected on the basis of CEE score (60% weightage) and aggregate marks (concerned subjects) obtained in the last qualifying exam (40% weightage).
For tie cases, weightage is given to Teaching Aptitude Test score, followed by age of the applicant.
Candidates with a Master’s Degree from a recognized University/ Institution are also eligible to apply for the Ph.D. program.
Ph.D. candidates must take the entrance test and interview conducted by the institute.
Reservation is provided as per norms set by NCERT and GOI.

RIE, Mysore B.Sc and BA Admission 2023

Regional Institute of Education, Mysore offers two 4-year integrated courses namely B.Sc. Ed. and BA Ed. at the undergraduate level. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a pass in CBSE Senior Secondary examination/ Pre-University examination of Karnataka or an equivalent examination with 50% marks.

Candidates applying for B.Sc. Ed. program must have studied PCMB at the intermediate level. BA Ed. candidates are required to have studied English, Regional Language and any two subjects, viz. History, Geography, Economics, Political Science and Sociology, at 10+2. Candidates are selected on the basis of marks obtained in Common Entrance Exam (CEE) conducted by NCERT, New Delhi.

Key Points:

RIE, Mysore M.Ed and M.Sc Admission 2023

RIE, Mysore offers postgraduate level degree courses in education. The institute currently offers a M.Ed. program and three M.Sc. Ed. specializations (Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics). The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Ed. program is a B.Ed. degree with 50% marks. Graduates in BA. Ed., B.Sc. Ed., and M.Sc. Ed. are also eligible to pursue the M.Ed. program provided they have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in graduation.

Candidates pursuing M.Sc. Ed. program need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criterion of securing at least 50% marks in 10+2/ Pre-University exam (Science stream). Candidates applying for the M.Ed. and M.Sc. Ed. courses are selected on the basis of merit rank in the Common Entrance Exam (CEE) conducted by NCERT.

Key Points:

RIE, Mysore Ph.D. Admission 2023

The institute offers Ph.D. in Education at doctoral level. Ph.D. candidates must have a Master degree (in any discipline) with 55% marks in order to be eligible. Selection of Ph.D. candidates is done on the basis of entrance test (institute level) and followed by interview. Ph.D. candidates must apply at the institute level.

RIE, Mysore Application Form 2023

Admissions to UG and PG degree courses (except Ph.D.) offered by Regional Institute of Education, Mysore is through the NCERT Common Entrance Exam (CEE) and its respective counselling. The detailed application process through NCERT CEE is as follows:

Candidates seeking admission to these programs are required to register online at the NCERT CEE website.
A valid email id and mobile number would be needed for the purpose as the conducting authority sends username and password through SMS and e-mail.
Candidates after receiving the login credentials must visit the CEE website and fill the online application form with basic details as required.
No further editing/ correction is allowed in the basic information area after submission of the application form.
Next, candidate will have to choose his/her desired exam center and state/ UT applying under.
In the next step, candidate will be required to enter choices of the desired program and then enter his/her educational details before proceeding to upload scanned copies of signature and photograph.
Follows next is the payment of application fee, which can be done through online mode using a credit/ debit card or internet banking.
For offline payment, candidates must take a printout of the e-challan and deposit the fee in any nearby HDFC bank.
A printout of the complete application form must be retained by candidate for future correspondence.
Candidates clearing the CEE will be required to submit a copy of the printout along with photocopies of all relevant mark-sheets at their respective RIEs at the time of admission.

Admission to Ph.D. Programs

Candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. programs must take an Entrance Test conducted by the institute, followed by a personal interview session.
Prospective candidates may obtain the application form from the institute campus.
Ph.D. admissions are conducted twice in a year (September and March), subject to existing vacancies in the subject.
