What students say about K J Somaiya College of Arts & Commerce - [KJSAC]

Likes

  • The teachers in the college who teach us are well trained and experienced. The college staff is also very good.
  • In 2019, the Whistling Woods Institute conducted a workshop on a career in Mass media
  • and the best performer was given an opportunity to intern with the speaker.
  • Every year, some companies come to visit our college, and the best ones are selected.
  • As far as I know, there are some good scholarships available for students from lower castes.
  • I will say that Somaiya College has the best court, ground, etc., and both indoor and outdoor sports.
  • The hostel here is at the end of the campus, but it has the best canteen service named GOPALS.
  • I find myself very proud and lucky to be here as the college holds a very good name all over Mumbai.

Dislike

  • Yeah, definitely, but some were just a waste of time, and not all are paid internships.
  • In the arts faculty, we had no placements. Secondly, we were not fully exposed to the subject, and no companies came. Also, no workshops took place in college.
  • The college provides a lot of scholarships to students, and they also offer loans to poor students at low-interest rates.
  • The fees are very high, which prevents poor class people from entering this college. This is the worst part of the college; no poor class people can afford to enroll due to the fees

Course Curriculum Overview:

My interest in the field of Bcom made me pursue this course. The faculty-student ratio is minimal, as the number of students in each division is 80-100. The faculty is well qualified and most of them hold a Ph.D. Degree.

Remarks:

Admission for the Bcom course happens based on cut-off marks as decided by the university. The application form goes live after approval from Mumbai University. The admission process is not completely digitalized yet, there is a scope for improvement over there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course because I thought along with my degree study I can learn many other things that can give a boost to my career and apart from that the main reason was financial problems. I personally think the faculty was okay. teachers were not that good and students were not able to understand what teachers were teaching. the student ratio was 130-150 students per class which I think was not appropriate. my opinion about teachers was not that great. I personally was not a fan of their teaching and half the time teachers were confused related to their subjects. I absolutely didn't like the teaching methods of teachers except for a teacher. the exam was not that difficult to pass and mostly half-yearly exams are conducted every 3 months of the cirriculam.

Remarks:

as I pursued BCom from kj somaiya of arts and commerce the minimum percentage that was required for this course was 40 percent. as I secured 92 percent I was eligible for this course and I applied from the same college from which I completed my 12th. applications were been displayed on the college website where we have to apply for our desired course and submit it and within 1-2 days we would have been informed if we are selected for it or not. the fee structure for BCom in my college was 10500 which I think was quite affordable. reservation benefits were only for minorities and also for Gujaratis. I think application process was quite easy and I don't think there is any need for improvements
