What students say about Kamala Nehru College - [KNC]

Likes

  • The course curriculum of the college is very good, and the exam is conducted by Nagpur University in all the colleges.
  • Companies such as Zomato, Paytm, The Economic Times, Wipro, and Nestle provide excellent campus placement and internship opportunities in our college through our placement cell.
  • There are pretty good packages available after graduation and good job placements. The named companies are connected to my college.
  • During my time, fees were reasonable at Rs9,000/yr; however, the living expenses were high due to being an outstation student.
  • From the annual fest of the college to the annual fests of each department, from the freshers and farewell of the college to the freshers and farewell from each department, a student experiences a great college life.
  • Kamla Nehru can boast of having one of the best canteens in all of Delhi University.
  • It is one of the best colleges of Delhi University among the 10 colleges of the university for my course, which is Geography Honours.

Dislike

  • If I am talking about the placements from Kamla Nehru College, then the number is very low.
  • Knc WiFi networks or even mobile networks are very weak. Sports facilities are below average. The library is fairly big with 2 floors. Equipment for practicals is not enough. The washrooms are really terrible and smelly.
  • KNC doesnt provide any hostel, though PGs near the college are pretty expensive (11K per month + electricity), but they are well-equipped

Course Curriculum Overview:

Commerce subject has always been my field of interest. My 1st preference was economic honors but the cut-offs were too high to get into a good college so I choose my 2nd preference B.Com honors which is great too. Also, I am planning to go for an MBA post-graduation so I thought it was a feasible option and subject.

Remarks:

It was quite hectic but good overall. The eligibility for B.Com Hons is 12th passed with good percent marks, and the application form is on the DU website and the application fee is around 200. No improvement is needed. I have availed of no reservations.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible from semester 5 for campus placement that is in their final year. Few major companies like EY, KPMG etc are the one which comes. Around 20-30 companies usually come for placement but this number has increased in the last 2 years

Remarks:

So the process has changed significantly now but during my time there was a lack of transparency and it was time taking. By lack of clarity, I mean where to get the procedure done. You need to sort that thing out on your own.

Placement Experience:

From the 5th semester, most students become eligible for campus placements. Mostly various small companies visit those who are newly started working. The highest package is INR 6 LPA and the average is INR 3 LPA.

Remarks:

The admission process was simple as Delhi University release its cutoff together while some colleges release their cutoff sometimes early. If a Student is from the same background of course like from being a humanities student and in college also opting for humanities then their top 4 subjects percent will be calculated without deduction but if someone from science or another background is opting for different subjects like someone from science opting humanities than some percentage of their top 4 subjects will be deducted. In some coed colleges girls get benefits of getting admission with some less percent than the normal mentioned percentage on the cutoff list and this benefit is not available in any Girls' college of Delhi University.

Placement Experience:

In there is an active placement cell that keeps on notifying students about upcoming job opportunities, internships as well as scholarships. Students start preparing for the placement in the 5th semester.

Remarks:

This year DU took admission through the cuet. The whole process of the entrance was quite complicated as it was conducted for the very first time. Eligibility for the course: 12th passed with 50% along with a decent cuet score. You can find the application form online only on the UGC website. I am a general student so, I didn't get any reservation benefits. There are lots of improvement that needs to be done: to make it less complicated and make it very clear to students about everything. The refund process shouldn't be delayed that much. the session should be going on time.
