What students say about Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University

Likes

  • I chose this college because of good placement, and students also have a chance to go abroad.
  • It was a great learning experience, and I also received a pre-placement offer. There were a number of organizations that offered internships, among which the prominent ones were ICICI Bank, ICICI Prudential AMC, IL&FS, HDFC, Vcare, and Allahabad Bank.
  • Placements are good; almost all students get placed in top companies and at reputable posts.
  • The total course fee for two years, including your hostel, amounts to around 1.2 lakh.
  • Campus life was great. We used to play lots of sports such as cricket, volleyball, basketball, football, etc., as well as lots of indoor games.
  • The hostel room mostly has two-seaters, with about 2-3 messes in each hostel for meals. These messes provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but the food is not of good quality.
  • They receive the benefits of studying at the university as well as the advantages of receiving quality education and practical lessons from the top-grade faculty in Indian college life.

Dislike

  • There is nothing negative that I would like to say about my college, as it has given me strength and knowledge to survive in tough conditions.

Placement Experience:

Placement season starts around 3rd semester (2nd year) at most by November. Companies like IBM, Infosys, Wipro, Genpact, ICICI Bank, L&T, KPMG, Mahindra, SBI MF, Writer corp, and Yes Bank are among the major recruiters. The average package this year has been 11.3 lpa while the median package is 10.3 lpa with the highest package of 35 LPA by UNIQLO.

Remarks:

Admission into IM-BHU requires aspirants to appear COMMON ADMISSION TEST (CAT) conducted by IIMs followed by applying online at the BHU Online Admissions Portal. Shortlisted candidates would then be required to appear in Group Discussions and Personal Interview Rounds before qualifying for Slot booking if eligible. The cutoff remains around the 80-85 percentile for General Category along with reservations for other categories. The deadline for filing the forms generally is on the day of the result declaration of the CAT exam.

Placement Experience:

Placements are provided in the institute, last year 95% of students were placed with the average package of 9.7 lakh which I believe is not bad. The highest package was 18 LPA. Companies start visiting in the third semester.

Remarks:

The admission process is not tough though. You have to appear for CAT, the average cutoff is 85 percentile but it goes down later. After CAT you have to fill out BHU's separate admission form. After that personal interviews and Group discussions will be conducted. Final merit will be made based on academics + CAT + GD/PI.
