Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh popularly known as MCM DAV, was established in 1968 by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, to commemorate the meritorious services rendered by Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan, former Chief Justice of India, a distinguished legal luminary, great patriot, administrator par excellence, committed educationist, social reformer and humanist.

Extracurricular Activities:

Various students support services are available to groom our students into conscientious member of society which primarily include the following:

  • Legal Literacy Club: Women empowerment does not become meaningful without law on its side. The college became the first college ever in the city to launch a Legal Literacy Club. 
  • Grievance Cell: The cell helps in direct communication of the students with the Management. Locked boxes are kept in the college and hostel through which students can communicate their grievances.
  • Character Building Cell: The cell looks after the moral well-being of young students. The students visits old-age homes, participates in hawans and are engaged in several social outreach activities.
  • Health Care Unit: The unit, constantly regulates the health related problems of the students. The college provides the services of a general physician, a gynecologist and a skin specialist.
  • Geetanjali: The helpline is available to the students facing emotional, Psychological or social problem.
  • N.C.C: NCC inculcates a spirit of discipline and patriotism amongst the students. It helps to broaden their outlook and develop the quality of leadership and spirit of fraternity. The college unit offers Army and Navy Wing.
  • N.S.S: To enrich the students personality and deepen her understanding of the social environment in which she lives.

Sports

The college has won the Panjab University General Efficiency All-Round Championship in sports 37 times in its existence of 43 years.
