Established in August 1957, Raja Narendra Lal Khan Women's College is situated in rural surroundings at Phulpahari Mouza on the outskirts of Midnapore Town near the edge of Paschim Medinipur district. Affiliated to Vidyasagar University. the college offers Honors and General courses in Arts and Science streams at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Selection is done on the basis of merit list. The merit list is generated by taking 10% of the aggregate of best 5 subjects (including one language subject) plus total marks obtained in Honors taking the subject or relevant subjects or marks obtained in one language subject when honors taking subject is not studied at HSC level. - Candidates belonging to SC/ ST category are given a relaxation of 10% in aggregate and 5% relaxation is given in subject concerned.
- Students of Arts Stream are not allowed to pursue Economics, Geography as their general subjects.
- Students applying for B.A. General must pick any one of the following subjects: Physical Education, NSS, NCC or Human Rights.
- Applicants of Music course not having Music in 10+2 will be selected on the basis of an audition taken by the department.

Candidates seeking admission to the Arts and Science courses at UG and PG level can apply online through the official college website. The selected candidates i.e. whose name is on the final merit list have to come to college for counseling & verification before admission.
The following documents are to be brought by the candidates for verification purposes:
- Undertaking by the Parent/Guardian and Student (Form to be downloaded from the website).
- Photo Copy of Online Registration Form as submitted (Will be generated after online submission and should be downloaded by the candidate) and the college copy of registration payment Challan in case of offline payment.
- Original and Photo Copy of Mark sheet of H.S or equivalent Examination (for UG admission).
- Original and Photo Copy of Mark sheet of Graduation (for PG admission).
- Original and Photo Copy of Admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent Examination or any Age proof document.
- Original and Photo Copy of Caste certificate if applicable.
- Original and Photo Copy of PH certificate if applicable.
- After counseling & verification, 3 copies of Admission Challan will be generated and given to the applicant by the college with pre-printed Admission Charges.
- Payment for Admission may be made through this Challan at the on-campus collection counter of the UCO Bank on the same date.
- Admitted students may collect their Prospectus by submitting the college copy of the Admission Challan (Stamped by the Bank) after payment.
