What students say about Ramjas College

Likes

  • I chose the BSc (Hons) Statistics course because, from the start, I wanted to kick-start my career in the data analytics field, and to my knowledge, this course is one of the best to get started.
  • They invite the best companies for the welfare and practice of students, and most of them do not require any application charges.
  • Internships are provided by many companies from time to time, and information about these opportunities is shared in their class groups. Interested students are encouraged to give it a try.
  • Yes, there were some scholarship options offered by the principal for bright and underprivileged students.
  • Classrooms are very good, the sports area is also very nice. I was in the debating society, so it was also a very nice experience with healthy competition. All in all, it is a good place.
  • The hostel infrastructure and canteen facilities were in really good condition, and the food provided by the canteen vendor was awesome.
  • I am proud to have studied in one of the best colleges in India with the best faculty.

Dislike

  • We dont even have a placement cell for science or anything, nor have we had any exposure to internships.
  • Sometimes, only a few companies visit college for campus placement, and only a few students become eligible for campus placement.
  • The fee structure was much lower compared to other colleges, and I have tried applying for scholarships, but I am not receiving any. Additionally, I am not getting any help from the college, and I have no proper idea about national scholarships. Moreover, I am unable to find a job.
  • The infrastructure and amenities in the classroom are very poor, such as broken benches, dirty classrooms, and old buildings.
  • Yeah, there is something wrong in our college, such as having very bad politics that hinder the development of our college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose English Honours at Ramjas college because I heard from people that the Ramjas English department is the best among all departments in University, after getting the admission I just can't agree enough with this. This is probably the best place, the department feels like home, and the ratio is about 1:20 All the facilities are highly intellectual and soft-spoken, they teach the subject so well, I enjoy all my lectures. term exam is announced by University so it's pretty structured and it's not very hard to pass it, it just takes a few readings

Remarks:

I got admission on 96% with SC quota, I filled out the application form on DU's own portal for UG admission application fee was 500 for me and it was about mid-June, the admission process was smooth as it was held by DU's administration, sometimes the portal crashes but was manageable

Placement Experience:

College placements are just fine. The average package is 5.6 lakhs and the highest went up to 19 lakhs. Companies like pwc, Delottie, and de Shaw come to recruit at Ramjas. The percentage of students who get placed is minimal. Most of the students go on to do masters or opt for off-campus placements. 127 offers were made and 84 recruiters came to campus. Students in their final year are eligible to sit for placements.

Remarks:

In 2019, there was no entrance test. Students were selected based on 12th marks. The 12th marks were calculated on a best-of-4 basis with a few mandatory subjects to be included. Merit lists were declared on the University website and the entire admission process was offline. For economics, having studied maths in 12th was compulsory, however, it need not be included in the best-of-4 % calculation. There are approximately 5 merit lists released after which the seats are occupied and the admission closes. However, for a few special categories upto 9 merit lists are declared.
