Established in 1980, National Insurance Academy is a government institute located in Pune, Maharashtra. Institute is approved by AICTE and has an affiliation with international bodies like CPCU (USA), CII (London) and the Canadian Institute of Insurance.
National Insurance Academy offers PGDM to its students in the field of management with a specific focus on Insurance, Pension, and allied areas. The program is recognized as equivalent to MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

For admission to the PGDM course, a candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks. The student appearing for their graduation’s final year exams can also apply, subject to the declaration of their examination results. Qualifying exams for admission are CAT or CMAT.
For the purpose of final selection, the institute assigns the following weights to different parameters, such as-

National Insurance Academy Pune PGDM Admission 2023
The National Insurance Academy offers a PGDM program for a duration of two years. The program covers a wide range of key functional areas in Life Insurance, General Insurance, Health Insurance, Pension and Group Insurance, and Actuarial Science.
National Insurance Academy Pune PGDM Eligibility
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks.
- Students appearing for their final year can also apply, subject to the declaration of their examination results.
- Should have appeared for CAT or CMAT
- The upper age limit is 28 years for General/OBC - NC candidates, and 30 years for SC/ST/DA candidates.
National Insurance Academy Pune PGDM Selection Criteria
Selection to PGDM of NIA is based on the following criteria:
- Past academic record
- Performance in CAT or CMAT
- Performance in pre-selection, Group Discussion & Personal Interview including WAT

National Insurance Academy Pune PGP Admission 2023
The Post Graduate Program in Actuarial Science is an integrated post-graduate program covering the Core Principles and the Core Practices of the subjects of the Actuarial Profession.
PGP Actuarial Science Eligibility
Graduates with 50% marks preferably with mathematics, statistics or economics and management subjects can apply for the course. The students living outside India, whether of Indian origin or foreign nationals, with these academic qualifications can also apply.
PGP Actuarial Science Selection Criteria
The selection of the students for the course would be based on their academic performance and personal interview.
Note:
- There is an application fee of Rs 1000 (US$ 20 for students and practitioners living outside India) (non-refundable).
How to Apply for National Insurance Academy Pune?
National Insurance Academy (NIA), Pune conducts an online application process. Only those candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria fixed by the Academy are admitted. Candidates have to undergo the following admission process to get admitted to the academy:
- Visit the official website of NIA, Pune.
- Candidates have to register using a Username and valid Email Id.
- Login with the Username and Password.
- Fill the application form correctly.
- Upload a recent passport-sized photograph.
- Pay an application fee of INR. 1000/- online via credit/debit card or net banking.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for GD and PI.
- Once selected, they have to submit the fee to confirm the admission.

Ques. Is it compulsory to stay on the NIA campus?
Ans. Yes, the course is fully residential. But the students who are living with their parents in Pune are allowed to stay at home. Hostel accommodation will be provided to the students in the following order:
- Girl students as per Merit
- SC, ST, DA, OBC-NC students as per Merit
- Remaining students in the order of their overall score in the merit list.
Students not getting accommodation will have to make their own staying arrangements and hostel charges will not be charged from such students.
