Conventionally we have heard of MBA in finance HR, operation, and marketing but what the national insurance academy offers is MBA in insurance and risk management which is honestly an evergreen industry. At NIA they not only teach us the theory of the subject but expose us to the practicality of the same. They have experienced facilities that provided you with the best knowledge of insurance and guide you to explore in depth. The student ratio is girls 40 boys 60. In a year there are 3 trimesters exams which are held and a mix of different subjects both insurance and management.
I choose this course because insurance is a growing sector. Seeing the demand for insurance this course will really help students to achieve greater heights in the future. Also, NIA provides Dual Specialization. MBA in insurance+ management field you wanna go.
The course curriculum consists of 51% syllabus of PGDM and 49% of Insurance. You will also have the option of selecting Finance, IT, Marketing, and HR as an elective in 2nd year of the course. Faculties here are from various top PSUs in the insurance sector like LIC, GIC, etc. The faculties are highly knowledgeable with almost 20 years of industry experience.
The course Is divided into 2 years, with a trimester system. It includes insurance as well as management subjects, which becomes a good combo for us to get an overall view of the sector. Faculty members are industry veterans with vast experience.
I had 2 years of experience in Insurance and as Insurance is the fastest growing industry that's why I selected this course NIA, Pune is the premier institute of Insurance. Most of the faculties are Ph.D. And bring with them huge work experience and Insurance knowledge.
The college is very particular about term exams and the difficulty level is moderate covering all the required syllabus to make us industry leaders. NIA follows a rigours trimester program that involves all the necessary management and insurance subjects.
The eligibility criteria are CAT and CMAT scores. The application form is available on the national insurance academy website which is easily accessible to all. The application form fee is Rs 2000 and the last date to apply will also mention on the website as well. NIA has a reservation policy in admissions as per central government rules. A graduation degree or equivalent from any recognized Indian/foreign university with a minimum of 55% for the ST/SC category. The maximum age limit is 28 for general OBC/NC. 30 for ST/SC category.
SNBy - S. NandiniFor applying to this course a student has to appear either for CAT or CMAT exam, you need to have more than 80 in CAT and more than 87 in CMAT. After shortlisting your profile there will be a WAT, GD, and PI round.
SBy - StudentI applied to NIA through the CMAT exam. The cut-off was 90 percentile. After getting shortlisted based on my CMAT score, I underwent a rigorous admission process consisting of WAT, GD, and PI. The process was held in Pune and Delhi for 3 days.
