Sivananda Yoga Vedanta center was established in the year of 1957 by Swami Vishnudevananda in Delhi. The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers are known as the name of Swami Sivananda who is one of the most influential spiritual teachers of the 20th century. The purpose of the center is to propagate the ancient teachings of Yoga and Vedanta as a means of achieving physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing and create a more peaceful world.

The center is a non-profit organization which is run by voluntary staff and dedicated to the aim of spreading the knowledge of yoga. All the activities of center take the place through the practice of Karma Yoga. The activities of the center are based on five principles which are Proper Breathing (Pranayama), Proper Exercise (Asanas), Positive Thinking and Meditation (Vedanta and Dhyana), Proper Diet (Vegetarian) and Proper Relaxation (Savasana).
