What students say about Vishwakarma Government Engineering College - [VGEC]

Likes

  • The course content of our college, which is decided by GTU, is very good and knowledgeable.
  • As the college is located in Ahmedabad, which is the hub of Gujarat, there is a great opportunity for students studying information technology and computer engineering. Additionally, for the electrical engineering branch, there is a powerhouse.
  • The placements offered by companies at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College are very good and competitive.
  • There is no scholarship provided by the college, but if you are eligible for any government scholarship, the college makes their best effort to support the students in becoming eligible and obtaining the scholarship.
  • In college, workshops and labs are in very good condition, and all machinery and equipment are also in very good condition.
  • It is very, very, very good for staying students. Our hostel fee is 22000 per year, and I think it is good for everyone because paying for a PG or another room is costlier than Sardardham.
  • My college is perfect in every aspect. Yeah, we all have some cons, thats just our nature. However, in my college, there were some problems. Now, as a student, its my duty to overcome them and take our college to its peak time.

Dislike

  • I feel that the Campus for Internship is very poor. Faculties are not more interested in these things.
  • Other than that, there are average salary packages for the computer department and the Information & Technology department.
  • There is no loan facility as the fees of this college are minimal, so you dont even have an idea to take a loan.
  • There is no annual fest organized by the college, but there is a Vishwacup where you can play games and earn certificates. Otherwise, no such fest happens in the college. This is one of the negative sides of the college.
  • I have never stayed at the hostel myself, but from what I have heard from my friends, the VEGC hostel is a horrible place to live

Placement Experience:

The college placements are much better than some of the private and government colleges of Gujarat. average placements of the college are about to 5Lpa and highest is about 9-15Lpa. There are some well-known companies for placements like andani, Reliance, TCS, tata motors and etc.

Remarks:

Your eligibility for any course is a minimum 45%in the 12th board. You can apply online through the ACPC website and you can also apply from the VGEC website. You can get various types of scholarships. The admission process is a little bit slow. It would take 20-30 days.

Placement Experience:

Companies generally come in the 8th sem but some also come in the 6th sem. So students can be placed in 6th sem too if they are prepared. Companies like TCS, Wipro, L&T, Oracle, Torrent etc and many more local companies visit our campus. Just last year, a Delhi-based tech company offered the highest package in the history of VGEC which was of 21 lahks per annum to a computer science student. The average package is 4-5 LPA for CS/IT/EC students and 2-4 LAP for other branches. Approx 50% of students get placed in VGEC. I am thinking of going abroad for further studies.

Remarks:

VGEC is a GTU-affiliated institute. So all the admission process is carried out by GTU only. For admission, we have to give STD 12th Gujarat Board Exam and a state-level entrance test known as 'GUJCET'. On the basis of the 60-40% ratio of these two exams, our merit is decided and thus a rank is given to us known as 'ACPC Rank' (Just as there is AIR in JEE). On the basis of this rank, admission is given to colleges. Higher the rank, the higher the college you get. The admission process is carried out in 4 rounds(at least at our time, it was 4. Now it might be 3. I am not sure). In this round merit of this institute generally remain between rank 850-1600 So if your rank is between this range, chances are that you are eligible to get admission to VGEC.
