Eligibility Criteria

Applicants seeking admission to 3 year B.A. (Hons.) Program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.

Academic Requirement:

  • Candidate must have passed 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized board with an aggregate of 55% marks or more in either English or any one of scheduled languages, and combination of best three other subjects from elective subjects.
  • Out of the best three, chosen above, one must be the concerned subject in which admission is sought, failing which a deduction of 1% will be imposed on the aggregate of the Best Four.
  • An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • The merit shall be determined on the basis of one language and three best academic/ elective subjects.

Reservation:

  1. Admission of Candidates Belonging to SC/ST/OBC: 5% of the total number of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes (15% for Scheduled Caste and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes, interchangeable, if necessary). In addition, 27% of the total number of seats is reserved for OBC candidates. The OBC candidates shall be given a relaxation in the minimum eligibility in the qualifying examination to the extent of 10% of the minimum eligibility marks prescribed for General Category Candidates.
  2. Admission to Dependents of Armed Forces: 5% of the seats in each undergraduate course are offered to the Children/Widows of the Officers andMen of the Armed Forces including Para-military Personnel, in order of Reference given below. 
  • Widows/Wards of Defence personnel killed in action
  • Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled in action
  • Widows/Wards of Defence Personnel who died in peace time with death attributable to military service
  • Wards of Ex-servicemen personnel and serving personnel including police personnel who are in receipt of Gallantry Award 
  1. Admission of Differently Abled Students: There shall be no “Additional Eligibility Criteria” for PWD category. 3% seats are reserved for physically challenged candidates, having minimum 40% physical disability, for admission to undergraduate institutions. The 3% reservation will be allocated as follows: 1% for persons with low vision or blindness; 1% for hearing impaired; 1% for those with loco-motor disabilities and cerebral palsy. However, if sufficient candidates are not available in a sub-category then candidates from other sub-categories should be considered in their place. Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility conditions shall be allowed while determining the eligibility of differently abled students for admission to various courses in the college.
  1. Admission of Wards of Kashmiri Migrants:  Admissions will be done on the basis of preference-cum merit (not more than 3 seats in one college and at least one seat in one stream i.e. Arts and Social Sciences, Commerce, Sciences and Mathematical Sciences.
  1. Nominees of the Nepal/Bhutan Government: Relaxation to the extent of 5% in the minimum marks shall be given to the nominees of the Nepal Government/Royal Government of Bhutan to determine their eligibility for admission to any course. However, this relaxation is not applicable vis a vis the cut off scores announced by the colleges for admission purposes.
