Travancore Medical College is a self-financing educational institution, established in 2008 in Kollam Medicity, Kerala. The college also doubles as a premier hospital in the city of Kollam. It is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences.

Travancore Medical College currently offers an MBBS program at the undergraduate level. At the postgraduate level, it offers MD & MS programs with specializations in Anesthesiology, General Medicine, and Obstetrics & Gynecology. For nursing candidates, the college offers a GNM program and a B.Sc. Nursing program for UG students.

  • Admission to MBBS is done on the basis of NEET UG examination.
  • For MBBS, candidate with 10+2 and Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 60% marks combined together is eligible for admission.
  • Selection of MBBS/ MD/ MS candidates is through Kerala CEE counselling only. NBE has no role in the allotment of seats although selection is based on NEET score.
  • Selection of candidates for the GNM program is through an interview conducted at the institute level. CET score is no applicable for this program.
  • Admission to MD or MS is done on the basis of NEET-PG examination.
  • For MD & MS, Candidate must have MBBS from a MCI recognized institute and 50% marks in entrance test.
  • The age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years for open category candidates, and 30 years for candidates from reserved categories.
  • Admission to B.Sc. Nursing is done on the basis of Entrance test conducted by CEE, Kerala.
  • Candidates applying under Minority quota must be able to produce Non-Creamy Layer certificate & Community certificate in order to be eligible for reservation.
  • For foreign Nationals, Oversees Citizen of India (OCI’s), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO’s), Passport Number is the mandatory requirement for filling up of the online application of NEET.
  • The application fee for MD & MS courses is INR 3750 (INR 2750 for SC/ST/OBC).
  • Candidates applying under Muslim Reservation Quota must produce a Confirmation Certificate from the Authorized Signatory of Kollam Muslim Association, showing that the candidate and family observe Muslim rituals and practices.
  • Reservation is provided as per Kerala CEE norms.

Travancore Medical College MBBS Admission 2023

Travancore Medical College offers an MBBS degree program to students seeking medical education at the UG level. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the program is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam with a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics put together.

Selection of candidates for the government quota seats of the MBBS program is through KEAM counselling based on NEET – UG marks.

Prospective candidates may visit the Kerala Commissioner of Entrance Exams (CEE) website and submit their applications online. A hard copy of the complete application form and photocopies of all relevant documents must also be sent to the CEE office so as to reach before the prescribed last date.

Attending KEAM counselling for admission to MBBS courses is mandatory for all government quota candidates. Management quota/ NRI candidates can apply through the institute level admission process.

Key Points for MBBS Admission:

  • Candidates are required to have studied English as a subject in 10+2 and have scored at least 60% marks in the subject.
  • NRIs and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) candidates holding a degree/ diploma from a foreign university must be able to produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
  • Candidates applying in their final year qualifying exam in March/ April are also eligible to apply provided they can submit the qualifying degree/ certificate within the prescribed deadline.

Travancore Medical College PG Admission 2023

Travancore Medical College offers postgraduate level medical degree courses in the fields of Anesthesiology, General Medicine, and Obstetrics & Gynecology. The institute offers Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees for Anesthesiology and General Medicine. Obstetrics & Gynecology candidates are awarded Master of Surgery (MS) degree upon course completion.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the MD/ MS courses is an MCI approved MBBS degree from a recognized institute or university. Candidates are further required to secure at least 50 percentile marks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (PG). Selection of candidates is done through counselling conducted by CEE, Kerala for PG admissions to medical courses.

Key Points for PG Admission:

  • Candidates from SC/ ST/ OBC category must secure at least 40% marks in the entrance test in order to be eligible.
  • PwD/ PH candidates must secure a minimum of 45% marks.
  • Candidates with a Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate from a Medical College/Institute duly recognized by the MCI are eligible to apply.
  • NEET-PG is conducted on computer-based test (CBT) platform.

Travancore Medical College Nursing Admission 2023

Travancore Medical College offers nursing programs to undergraduate students with a science background. The institute currently offers a General Nursing Program (GNM) and a B.Sc. Nursing degree. Candidates with a minimum of 40% marks in 10+2 or equivalent exam are eligible for the GNM program. For admission to the B.Sc. Nursing course, the candidates must have passed the 10+2 level exam with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics put together.

The candidate is also required to have studied English as a compulsory subject at SSC level. Selection of candidates for the GNM program is based on merit and interview. B.Sc. Nursing candidates are selected on the basis of counselling/ entrance test marks conducted by CEE, Kerala/ institute.

Only online mode of application is accepted for the B.Sc. Nursing program, the selection for which is through Kerala CEE counselling. Candidates for the GNM program must apply on the institute level for admissions. The application form for the GNM program can be obtained by visiting the institute campus in person and fee paid in cash.

Key Points for Nursing Admission:

  • Non-Kerala candidates must apply under management quota only.
  • Govt. quota seats are reserved only for native candidates.
  • Reserved category candidates are given 5% relaxation in the minimum marks eligibility criteria for government quota seats.
  • The application fee for B.Sc. Nursing for General/ Service candidates is INR 600 and INR 300 for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates.

Application Process 2023

Travancore Medical College fills its government quota seats through counselling/ rank list conducted/ published by CEE, Kerala. The management quota/ NRI seats are filled through the institute level admission process on the basis of merit/ entrance test as per institute policies. The application process in details is as follows:

For Government Quota seats:

  • Candidates may visit the CEE, Kerala official website and submit their applications online.
  • The applicant must also upload a soft copy (scanned) of his/ her passport size photograph, signature, and left hand thumb impression, all in .jpg format, 20-100KB in size, before filling the online application form.
  • The online application form must be completed with genuine and accurate details in reference to marks obtained in the previous qualifying exams, contact information, personal data etc.
  • Candidates are required to pay the application fee online using credit/ debit card, internet banking, or e-challans. No other mode of payment is recognized by CEE, Kerala.
  • The candidate must remember to clearly specify/ select his/ her desired course while filling the application form online.
  • Applications without a choice of course would be considered as incomplete, and hence rejected.
  • The applicant must take a printout of the complete application form after submitting the information online. The same will be required for future correspondence.
  • A copy of the application form printout must be sent along with self-attested photocopies of relevant documents to CEE so as to reach the respective office on or before the last date.
  • A recent passport size photograph of the applicant (identical to the one uploaded) must be pasted in the application form and must be attested by the Head of the Institution last attended, or by a Gazetted Officer of the Govt.
  • A unique application/ key number and password will be provided to the candidate which must be maintained with confidentiality and in safe custody till the end of the allotment process.
  • Candidates should send only one application for admission to any or all of the courses in KEAM.
  • Candidates except SC/ ST/ OEC category should submit income certificate also along with the printout of the complete application form for availing income based fee concession/ scholarship.
  • Online Option Confirmation is mandatory for participating in each phase of allotment.

For Management Quota/ NRI seats:

  • Candidates applying for Management Quota/ NRI seats can download the application form and annexures from the official website of institute.
  • Alternatively, the application form and prospectus can be collected from the institute campus in person by paying the prescribed application fee.
  • The completed application form must be submitted in person or by post so as to reach before the last date.
  • In case candidate has downloaded application fees, a demand draft of the prescribed application fee must be sent/ submitted along with the online application form and all other relevant enclosures.
  • For MD & MS courses, application fees is INR 3750 (INR 2750 for SC/ST/OBC).
  • The application fee for B.Sc. Nursing for General/ Service candidates is INR 600 and INR 300 for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates.

Documents Required:

The following documents must be sent/ submitted along with the application form printout, and originals produced at the time of counselling/ admission:

  • SSLC/ 10th standard Certificate
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Plus Two or equivalent Certificate
  • Mark list at the qualifying Examination ( Plus Two or equivalent)
  • Marks sheet/ degree certificate of MBBS, as applicable
  • Transfer Certificate (T.C) from the institution last attended
  • Marks Sheet and Admit card of the National Eligibility cum Entrance (NEET)
  • Data sheet and Allocation Memo issued by the CEE
  • Certificate of good conduct from the institution last attended, preferably issued within six months
  • Document/certificate from the authority to establish the eligibility for Muslim Reservation
  • Community and Non-creamy layer/ income Certificate from Tehsildar/ Village Officer in case the candidate requires relaxation in marks as per rules in force
  • Medical Fitness Certificate
  • Vaccination Certificate against Hepatitis / MMS / Chickenpox
  • Equivalency /eligibility certificate of the qualifying examination obtained from Kerala University of Health Sciences by candidates other than those who passed qualifying examination of Kerala Higher Secondary Board, CBSE or ICSE
  • Migration certificate by candidates passed qualifying examination other than Kerala Higher Secondary Board
  • Bank Guarantee from a Nationalized Bank agreeing to pay the amount of the tuition fee to be paid for the second, third, fourth and fifth year of the course
  • Bonds in Stamp papers worth INR 200 as mentioned in Annexure-I & III (refer to prospectus)
  • Refundable Security Deposit for an amount equivalent to one-year tuition fee
  • Two sets of self-attested photocopies of all the documents/certificates listed above and Ten Passport size photographs of the candidate (one of them shall be laminated on the facing side)
