The Centre for Distance Education (CDE) of Bharathidasan University (BDU) was founded in 1992 with the aim of offering distance education courses that are at par with the regular mode courses. The institute is ranked #60 among the top Indian University Ranking published by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2019.

Bharathidasan University Centre for Distance Education (BUCDE) offers 64 programs through Distance Education mode that includes 28 undergraduate, 22 postgraduate, 11 PG Diploma/ Diploma/ Certificate Programs, and three Professional Programs in MBA and MCA. How to Apply?

  • Visit the official website of the college.
  • Candidates can either submit the admission form through online mode or can print the form and send it to the institute with required enclosures.
  • The admission fee needs to be paid either through online mode or Demand Draft drawn in favor of “Bharathidasan University” payable at Tiruchirappalli.
  • Cost of Application Form: UG/ Diploma/ Certificate Course is INR 180, PG/ PG Diploma is INR 300, and MBA/ MCA is INR 450.

Bharathidasan University Distance Education Scholarship

The institute offers scholarships to SC/ ST students who are studying in PCP centers, provided approval is received from the State Government of Tamil Nadu. Additionally, fee concession of 10% in tuition fee is offered to PG students who have completed their UG in the Bharathidasan University.

A 100% exemption of tuition fees in all courses is offered to Differently Abled candidates by the institute. The candidates are required to produce a copy of the identity card issued by the Differently Abled Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu for the same at the time of the admission process.

Ans. The students are instructed through Study Materials and Personal Contact Programmes (PCP). Study material is supplied to the students in the PCP Centers. Additionally, E-books are also available on the university website www.bdu.ac.in/cde for the students to refer to.

Ques. How will a distance education student receive their hall ticket for the end term exams?

Ans. For the benefit of its students, the institute issues the hall ticket online, let students make online payment of fees and online submission of examination form.

Ques. What does the Uniform Span Period mean?

Ans. The Uniform Span Period which has been implemented from the academic year 2018-2019, University has increased the time limit to complete the course within a maximum of five years i.e. 30.06.2023 for any student who was admitted before 2018-2019 academic year which also includes Redo or Readmission students.
