Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, also known as KMIO, Bangalore conducts various Postgraduate, undergraduate and specialty medical-based Diploma courses on campus. These programs are recognized as well as affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Medical Council of India and National Board of Examinations. 

Under UG category, the institute conducts DNB course in 3 specializations, B.Sc. course is offered in 5 specializations. For PG category the institute offers M.Sc., M.Ch, D.M, M.D, DMRT, and Post Basic Diploma in oncology nursing. 

Further, at the doctoral level, the institution offers fellowship programs and 4 departments are conducting Ph.D courses as well. Admissions are done by means of entrance exams conducted by the University followed by a round of Personal Interviews.

Final selection to the programs is done after the counselling session.

  • For M.Ch and D.M 3 year course, admission is done by means of entrance exam/counselling session conducted by the affiliating University
  • For 2 seats of M.D and 1 seat for DMRT, admissions are done on the basis of All India Quota via an entrance exam followed by counselling session conducted at All India level. Remaining 2 seats of M.D and 2 of DMRT is allotted by means of an entrance exam conducted by the University
  • For admissions to DNB courses, candidates are required to appear for an entrance test followed by counselling process conducted by National Board of Examinations, New Delhi
  • Admissions to fellowship programmes are done on the basis of a written test and viva voce conducted by the institute during the month of November or December
  • For B.Sc and Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing courses, admission process includes a round of personal interview conducted by the institute in the month of June/July
  • For 1 seat of M.Sc. Nursing, admission is done by means of counselling conducted by the University and for rest of the 4 seats, admissions are done by means of interview conducted by the institute

Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore was set up in the year 1957 as a private institution but later got upgraded to autonomous status by Government of Karnataka. Apart from regular academics, the institution makes it mandatory to enrol for internship programme at the end of the final year for certain courses. Students are also provided stipend during internship period.

Ques. Does the academy offers hostel facility for outstation candidates?

Ans. Yes, there are separate hostel facility available for girls and boys. Additional fees for accommodation including mess needs to be paid at the time of admission. For PG boys, the rent per month is INR 1350, for PG girls, it is INR 800 and for UG students rent per month is INR 200. Water, electricity and security facilities are provided to the inmates.
