Nowgong Girl’s College is a premier institution of higher education for women in central Assam. It was established on 12th September 1962 as Nowgong women’s college, this institution was later known as “Lal Chand Todi Girls’ College” and finally in 1968 it was renamed as Nowgong Girls’ College. The college is affiliated to Guwahati University.

The college offers Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in both General and Major to the aspiring girl students who want to pursue their career in the field of Arts. The college also offers PG diploma in Natural Resource Management.

Admission to the college is strictly based on merit list for B.A (General) and for B.A. (Major) candidates are selected on the basis of written test conducted by the college followed by a personal interview for both. The college follows “First Come First Served” basis for Pg Diploma.

The college offers three year Degree Course - both Major and General - in Arts Faculty under Gauhati University. The college also offers PG Diploma to the students who want to pursue their career in Natural Resource Management.

Admission to the College in General subjects is strictly based on merit scored in 10+2 level or equivalent. However, the shortlisted candidates will need to appear in personal interview. Candidates who intend to take up as Major subjects, all the Departments, will have to appear in a written test conducted by the college followed by a personal interview.

The candidates selected for admission must get themselves admitted on the very day of the interview

Admission form will be issued from the College Office on payment of Rs. 150/- (Rupees One Hundred and Fifty only).
Admission form can be filled up and submitted online through the College Website on payment of Rs 150/- through net-banking or credit/debit card
Applicants may also submit a downloaded Application Form in person along with a Bank Draft of Rs 150/- only in favour of Principal in-charge, Nowgong Girls’ College, payable at Nagaon
