Government Polytechnic Durg was started with Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering diploma courses on 1962. The Metallurgy, Electronics and Tele-communication, and Computer Science and Information Technology courses got added in the years of 1964, 1981, and 2000 respectively. Provision for taking up Part-Time Diploma Courses were initiated in the year of 1984.
