College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (CVSC & AH) is the part of the Central Agricultural University, and functions out of Mizoram. Started in 1997, it caters almost exclusively to the North-Eastern states of the country, through its 17 departments.

CVSC & AH offers an under-graduate B.V.Sc. with 67 seats, a post-graduate M.V.Sc. with around 50 seats, and a Ph.D. program with intake depending on the availability of resources.

  • Seats are allocated on nomination basis, depending on the merit of the candidate in the relevant competitive examination as specified by the University.
  • Reservation is in accordance with regulations of the Government, with up to 25% of seats reserved for those from North Eastern regions.

College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (CVSC & AH) B.V.Sc Admission 2023

CVSC & AH offers a B.V.Sc. course at the undergraduate level. Candidates are selected for admission based on the nomination of their respective state governments depending on their performance in a competitive entrance examination. Candidates must have a pass at the 10+2 level, or have appeared for this examination at the time of application.

The entrance test consists of a multiple-choice question paper designed to test the aptitude of the candidates. It is administered separately in each of the six states over which the college has jurisdiction. The examination generally takes place in the 3rd week of June every year.

Candidates who wish to apply for the B.V.Sc program at CVSC & AH may do so by applying directly to the relevant department of their respective state governments, following release of official notification.

  • Reservation is in accordance with the regulations of the state government in question, and therefore varies across the jurisdiction. Generally, a 5% relaxation in the minimum required percentage is given to candidates from these categories.
  • Candidates must be at least 17 years of age to apply.
  • 15% of the total seats are reserved for the candidates nominated by the Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi on All India Competitive Examination (AICE).

CVSC & AH offers a M.V.Sc. course at the postgraduate level. Candidates are selected for admission based on the nomination of their performance in the qualifying examinations. Candidates must have a pass at the undergraduate level in a relevant discipline to be able to apply for admission.

Candidates who wish to apply for the postgraduate programme at CVSC & AH may do so by applying directly to the college. An official notification will be released with detailed application process during the month of April / May.

  • Selection is nomination based on merit only, and is open on an All India basis. However, preference will be given to those applying from North East regions.
  • For 25% of the seats, the candidate is nominated by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi (ICAR) on the basis of All India JRF & PG entrance test

CVSC & AH offers research programs as well, with several specializations. The admission process consists of admission counseling for those selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination conducted by the College. The entrance examination is the sole basis of selection to the Ph.D program:

  • The test is scheduled for a period of 150 minutes.
  • The test consists of 200 questions that cover all relevant areas studied at the qualifying level, including research methodology, and subject specific knowledge.
  • There is no negative marking for the wrong answers.

Candidates who wish to apply may do so by completing all the steps specified in the following application process. Since the jurisdiction of the college is unique across six states, candidates must apply with their own state government, through which nominations will be made.

  1. A notification will be released by the State Government, usually from the Ministry of Animal Husbandry.
  2. The notification will include a release of an application form, which interested candidates can download / obtain from the Ministry office.
  3. Candidates must submit the duly filled in form, along with photographs and photocopies of marks cards, to the relevant Government official before the examination.
  4. Some states such as Meghalaya require the form to be submitted in person.
  5. Original documents are verified before the admit card is generated.
