Directorate of Sorghum Research (DSR) Hyderabad, is the central agency on all aspects of Sorghum research and development. The DSR is principally engaged in both basic and strategic research on Sorghum, region specific research and services are organized in their research centres. DSR’s pioneering work in hybrid and varietal development has created a great impact with its contribution in developing superior varieties of groundnut, red gram etc. The institute aims and mandate to diversify sorghum’s utilization to promote profitability from sorghum based cropping system and to serve as national repository of sorghum, to serve as a national centre for training and consultancy on all aspects of sorghum production and to foster collaborative research with national and international agencies with a view to achieve objectives. DSR aims at orienting sorghum research towards market and export promotion and to coordinate and conduct AICSIP programmes in various locations at national level.
