Established in the year 1952, the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow,Uttar Pradesh was founded by the former Indian Central Sugarcane Committee. The objective was to conduct researches on basic and applied area of sugarcane culture. Also, the institute would help coordinate the research work carried on the crop in various state of the country. The Government of the country took over the management of the institute from the hands of Indian Central Sugarcane Committee in the year 1954. From the year 1969, the management of the institute was transferred to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.

3. Excellent Supportive Infrastructure –The institute has state of the art auditorium with the capacity of accommodating 250 persons, where students can make presentations to the guests and others. Along with this, there are two conference rooms that have the facility of audio visual projection as well as address systems. One of the conference rooms can accommodate 40 persons and other can accommodate 80 persons. This helps students to meet several objectives.
