Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy started in 1987 falls under the Ministry of Environment and Forests. It is situated in the New Forest Campus of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun and operates as a college for Indian Forest Service IFS officers.

The academy has an 1100 acres campus surrounded by river Tons and Chakrata road.

IGNFA offers a post-graduate M.Phil. Degree in Environmental Technology. Apart from that, the academy also organizes several training programs like Skill Upgradation Programme for State Forest Service, Mid-Career Training Programme for IFS officers, etc. 

IGNFA, Dehradun aims to impart knowledge and skills that focus on utilizing the country’s natural resources judiciously and in a sustainable manner.

  • Post-graduation in a relevant field with at least 60% aggregate or equivalent CGPA from any University incorporated by the state or the central legislature of India.
  • A relaxation in aggregate is provided up to 5% for SC/ST candidates.

Ans. The students are provided with many facilities within the campus. There is a huge playground for the students. There is a hostel, library, computer labs, seminar halls and gym. The hostels are fully Wi-Fi enabled. The college also organizes transportation facilities within the city and the students and the academy also organize general medical checkups for the students. The hostels are available for both boys and girls costing around INR 6000- 7000.

Ans. The college organizes various events to unleash the talents of the students. Members of the faculty group have worked as Director in Ministry of Home Affairs, CCF in Department of Forest, DFO Punjab, and many such honorable designations.
