NIFT National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai was established in 1995. The fashion institute is under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. At present, sixteen NIFT campuses are functioning in different parts of the country.
NIFT, Chennai offers B.Des, B.FTech at undergraduate level; M.F.M. and M.FTech at the postgraduate level. Apart from the regular courses, the institute also offers diploma and continuing education certificate courses in fashion management and technology.
Applicants who have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board are considered eligible to apply for B.FTech. Admission B.FTech is done on the basis of valid score in GAT (General Ability Test).
Admission to B.Des is done on the basis of valid score in CAT (Creative Ability Test), GAT (General Ability Test), followed by Selection test.
Admission to M.F.M. and M.FTech is done on the basis of valid score in GAT (General Ability Test), followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
For PG Diploma course, candidates must have passed 10+2/Intermediate with any degree to be eligible. Admission for diploma and continuing education certificate courses is based on the merit cum personal interview.
5 percent seats are reserved for Persons with disability (Horizontal reservation for PwD, 40% or more disability across all sections SC, ST, OBC, and General).
