Carmel College for Women, a Christian college, was established in 1964 to fulfil the long felt need for an institute for higher learning for women in Goa. Carmel College is situated on Margao-Cortalim highway, nestled at the foot of the hills, it is an excellent place for study and reflection. It is managed by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel, a Roman Catholic Congregation. The college is a NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) accredited institution. It has been awarded B++ grade by the NAAC, which is an autonomous body appointed by the University Grants Commission.

Facilities

Auditorium

There is an auditorium with a seating capacity of 700 with good sound system and musical instruments.

Classroom

There are 26 classrooms out of which 8 have been designed in amphitheatre style. Some classrooms are equipped with overhead projectors permanently and L.C.D.

Library

The College has a spacious library with a built up area of 3,718.22 sq.m. and can accommodate 200 students.

  • The total number of books in the library are 26885 including 22803 textbooks and 3771 reference books

  • It subscribes to 23 journals and 43 magazines on annual basis

Hostel

The hostel building consists of 40 rooms spread over three floors and accommodates 100 students on sharing basis.
