Location Facts

Spread across two campuses, its estate is home to a part of UNESCO world heritage site, five grade one listed buildings and an ancient monument. The Durham city campus is located near botanical gardens.

Library

Special Collection at Library has around 75,000 books. Bill Bryson Library is the largest library of the university. This has a collection of 1.5 million. There are various other libraries of the university offering e-books, journals, databases for both students and staff


University has over 100 libraries. Bodleian Libraries include university’s main library and 30 other libraries across Oxford having over 12 million printed books and  80,000 e-journals. Also, every college has its own library.


Campus Life

Over 200 student union societies, 27 student theatre companies, a range of 50 projects to volunteer, extensive sports programs, 10 different associations, a riverside bar and cafe, and over 250 student groups at Durham allow students to enjoy the most. Palatinate is the university newspaper, Purple radio is a student-run radio station of Durham. It also offers a night bus facility for safe travel throughout the city late at night.  


University has over 400 student societies including Oxford Union (debating society), Music Society, Dramatic Society, etc. Two weekly university newspapers are published: Cherwell and The Oxford Student.

City Life

Durham is an affordable city in UK, offering world's finest architecture. It is 10 minutes away from Newcastle. The city offers some high street shops, Gala Theatre and Cinema at City’s millennial square, Comedy stand-ups at Comedy Store, Oriental museum, and much more. The city has its own book festival, Lumiere festival, and many other cultural festivals celebrating the colorful multicultural environment. The unemployment rate is, however, on the higher side: 10.5%


The city is center for art and culture and has an amazing nightlife to offer. It has museums with ancient Egyptian artifacts, a new theatre dedicated to comedy scenes, and modern art galleries. The rive Isis beautifies the whole city. There are various authentic cuisine cafes and restaurants in the city offering a wide variety of food and drinking options. The unemployment rate is 3.1%
