Ques. Is Doon Business School a good option for a BSc in agriculture?

● Top Answer By Sabeer Chalana on 11 May 21

Ans. Doon Business School is a good option for BSc Agriculture. Although there are good Govt institutes for B.Sc Agriculture but being a private institute, DBS offers good facilities.  Here are some of the reasons why you should choose DBS for a BSc in Agriculture. The campus is away from the hustle and bustle of the city and has a good academic environment. The faculty base of the institute is impressive. Although the course fee is a bit hefty, it does not charge a capitation fee. There’s also a provision of scholarships up to 50% of the course fee for meritorious students. The course structure is approved by ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research). The course is UGC recognized so students are employable anywhere in the country and abroad. The course is designed in a way to meet the needs of the current industry. There’s an Agricultural farm attached to the institute.  DBS BSc Agricultural program is definitely a great option and worth the time and money you will spend.Read more

Ques. I want to do BSC (Agriculture) from Himgiri Zee University Dehradun. Is it a better choice to do it from there?

● Top Answer By Zakia Parween on 05 Jan 21

Ans. Himgiri Zee University Dehradun is a good choice only if you are planning to pursue any course in the field of agriculture from this university. Apart from agriculture, Himgiri Zee University is not well known for any other specialized courses.  According to the majority of reviews provided by former students, the university doesn’t provide the facilities promised at the time of admission. The university is definitely not the right choice for pursuing any specialized course. Former students complain about the lack of coordination from the management of the university. The university does not offer good placements. Even the students of Mass-communication are placed in posts like content-writer or back-end jobs. Some of the courses at the university even have 2-3 students in total. A friend of mine did his MBA from this university and had a total of 4 classmates. However, the Agriculture department is good and offers decent academics. The table below gives a brief overview of the B.Sc (Hon.) in Agriculture at the university.  Course Name B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture Total Fees INR 40,000 per semester Course Level UG Degree Eligibility 12th Pass (45% or More) in PCB/PCM/Agriculture stream Before getting enrolled in this university don't forget to visit the campus personally and check all the necessary facilities you’re searching for. Talk to the current students and they can tell you about the real situation of academics at the institute.Read more

Course Curriculum Overview :

BSc agriculture is a course with high job opportunities in India as well as aboard. The food sector is fast growing day by day. So in order to promote agriculture throughout the country and also for ensuring reasonable profit for the farmers who are the building hands of growing India, qualified and experienced agricultural professionals are required. The college is having enough teachers, the majority of them are having doctoral degrees and a number of years of experience too. A few of the guest lecturers are also there. They are also having a PhD or Masters and NET. All the teachers are student-friendly. All the portions are being covered before the examination. Before the university examination, one quiz and a 2nd term examination are also being conducted in the college. All the subjects are being taught along with practical classes. An adequate number of field visits ate also conducted to improve the field knowledge and also to make an opportunity for the students to interact with the experienced farmers.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is actually decided by govt authority. As it is a govt college and admission is purely on merit basis, the fee is also reliable to people from all economic categories. Approximately 10000 is the semester fee. Hostel facilities are also available inside the campus separately for boys and girls. As the hostels are run by the government, no hostel fee for the students, but we have to pay only the charge of food and that too comes below 2500 per month. A number of scholarships are also available for the students. For the students who belong to sc, st and obc, the minority scholarships are available. Marantz are distributed among the students who are from financially backward families. Minority scholarships such as the CH Muhammed Koya scholarship, wakf board scholarship are also available for the eligible students. The only thing is that students have to score good marks, then the college will support in their studies. The internship in 4th year has a stipend

Campus Life :

The campus life was a beautiful and memorable one. The college is giving equal importance to extracurricular activities also. Every year, in the month of march a MANGO FEST is being conducted on the campus and an exhibition and sale of a wide variety of mangoes, seedlings, etc. The college has an extraordinary library too rich in books, both study-oriented as well as entertaining. Athletics and sports are also being conducted every year.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I intrested towards agriculture so I prefer This course. From the course, we can learn the basics of agriculture in India and how to make an india to the biggest agricultural country.the faculty is satisfactory in teaching not so good and not so bad. they are PhD candidates and senior faculty and scientists in their departments. they mostly chose for the PowerPoint presentation than normal students are May not get more knowledge and not clear their doubts too.there some politics also there between students in college that makes students not so concentrate on studies.the interaction between students and faculty is not so good and between senior and junior students also.juniors are fear of seniors.the course is a seminster type so there is more concentrated on studies due to less time and in every semester there are more than ten subjects they are more burden to it's difficult for passing in exams

Placement Experience :

I'm New student in campus joined in recent year and I don't know more about the campus placements.i think there are less opportunity for college placements. There are offers made for very fewer students and Students are mostly trying to get good opportunities outside the campus only! Most students after the Degree prefer for higher studies like MBA or PG

Course Curriculum Overview :

Agriculture is a broad subject and is need of this agrarian nation so I chose it. The course curriculum is according to the fifth Dean committee report and is well designed. It includes both theory and practical learning. The average student to teacher ratio is 40:1. All professors are well qualified and have deep knowledge of core essentials of the subject and they keep doing research activities also. But some old professors are not to adapted to digital learning and use old methods of teaching. The exams are conducted in time and is based on what the syllabus demands and what all have been taught by the teacher. So the difficulty level is moderate. There are also practical works and assignment given time to time to enhance our practical knowledge too.

Campus Life :

There are lot of cultural and sports events organised like Birsa jayanti, Annual sports day, foundation day and also many workshops. Inter University fests are also organised along with celebration of Christmas gathering, Saraswati Puja and teacher's day. The library is getting updated year by year with new editions of books and journals. There is also printing facility in the library. Classroom are air conditioned and have digital reaching equipment. Students are involved in various activities like YouTube channel eg. Agriwizard BAU and have also developed android applications like agri-capsule for helping in studies.

Placement Experience :

Students in 7th semester are provided industrial internships and the after 8th semester are eligible for campus placement. Companies like JSLPS, BRLPS, SYNGENTA, BAYER,etc come for campus placement. Highest package offered is of 4lkhs/annum. Very few companies come for placement. Because of all this, students prefer for preparing for government jobs and Bank exams. Around 5-10% students opt for capmus placement. My plans after getting degree is to prepare for JRF exam for admission in post graduation course.
