Ques. Which is the best university to study UG course in chemistry zoology CU, BU, KU or WBSU?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 20 Oct 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at Calcutta University, so I might be able to give you some details about it. Calcutta University (CU) is one of the oldest functioning institutions in West Bengal. It is popular among students. In Calcutta, most of the colleges are affiliated with CU. The one thing that every CU student is familiar with is their strict grading system. Scoring even a 60% is very difficult. Some students even think this is a good enough score if you are a student of CU. Nowadays top reputed MNCs also demand at least 60% to be able to sit for placements. Finally, you should keep in mind that other mentioned universities may not be as old and experienced as CU, but they will show a bit of leniency while giving marks. So ultimately the decision is yours, whether you want to study in a reputed university with a strong and reliable alumni network or opt for the easier way out by getting admission to newer institutions.Read more

Ques. What are the minimum qualifying marks for zoology hons. in WBSU?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 20 Oct 21

Ans. Different colleges set different marks for form submission. If you are willing to take admission for an honors program at WBSU, make sure you have the minimum marks required, i.e., 45 out of 100. If you want to pursue Zoology Honours, you have to have 45 in Biology in your class 12th examination. But if your Biology marks are less than 45, then you will have to take special permission from the Vice-Chancellor or Registrar of WBSU. To keep your Honours, you need to score at least 42% in each year’s honors paper. Failing to maintain this might result in losing the honors degree.Read more

Campus Life :

The campus seems that students came here for wandering chilling and for will not see them as students they are just bloggers. There is a library but when I visited there I can't find any appropriate book. The classroom is just hell not proper arrangements of desk benches or blackboard ratio of classroom and students is uneven, too small for the total students, much hustle is created when all students present. There is a social group called sangarsh panel which is full of loafer boys and it seems like a gang of few gangster boys rather than a social group

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose this course because I am a student of biology and I want to pursue my college in biology too. Faculty students ratio is very uneven .for around 150 students like a crowd only 1 teacher. Permanent lecturers are very intelligent but the Adhoc teachers appointed in the contract for only 1 year are just disgusting. there only one exam at the mid of year which is too easy to pass and at last of the year one final exam from the University.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees at the time of admission only that is currently 16000 and increase every year. Scholarship from the University not from the college.

Admission :

Like every other universities, in cotton also form fill up is to be done first prior to admission by going through online mood. Then the universities on there official websites releases cutoff marks, date of admission, venue among with the list of selected candidates. So on the day of admission, all the original document required is verified by the university. Then they charged admission fee as per the course they choose. I choose B.Sc Zoology honors as my course because i have a great interest on animals and also i want to explore my knowledge in the field of biology. I preferred this institute because the faculties are highly qualified, syllabus are also updated time to time and at last because it's such a prestigious institute in North-East.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum include 3 years B.A, B.SC and B.CA degree, 2 years of M.A, M.SC degree and 3 years of M.CA degree as well as PhD courses.Three year undergraduate courses is divide into six different semesters and 2 years post graduate courses is divided into four different semesters. The university conducts one mid-term basically of (30-40) marks and one end-term examination of (60-70) marks. Different departments conducts international and national seminar, organized talks, to impart knowledge which may be proof benefited for the student in there research and future work.

Campus Life :

As cotton is not closed campus university so it is vast and distributed all over the pan bazar and dhigoliphukri area. The strength of female is comparatively more than boys in cotton. Separate practical labs for high secondary students, undergraduate and post graduate students are present. The availability of equipment in labs is much needed. National level debate competition is conducted every year and the winner is awarded with certificates and cash prizes.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I am studying zoology. It was specialization in biotechnology. I feel very proud to be in this department because I came to know more about our living organism and who we could survive in this world. They have made me understand in simple ways. There are many programs to explain things in a good manner. They conduct more programs and competition in our department and we will also participate in many college competition. Many faculties came to our college and teach us many things about our department and useful it is in our life. Most of them don't know about how important and many more job opportunities are there in zoology. So I kindly request our growing youth to take place in the zoology field and get used of it.

Campus Life :

There is a very good infrastructure. There will be a fest for every month and most of the festive in every month. Christmas celebration will be the great every year. Our college is the ragging free campus. I will give CENT percent assurance for that. We are conducting all types of sports and has a special place for sports student. There are many clubs in our college like NSS, ROCTRACT, NATURAL CLUB, YRC, RED RIBBION CLUB.

Placement Experience :

There will be permanent placement after the completion of the course. We have a campus interview at the end of the course and the top companies will hire for the job. Many of the students have got them through it and we have the best placement after studying in hcc. We are respected in all the field for our discipline because every company needs it nowadays.

Campus Life :

It's an all girls College so no such gender ratio or diversity. Extracurricular activities were thoroughly supervised na some of the teachers. Annual program and Intra college competion were held every year. Students participated in various topic like song, dance, recitation, art, cooking, etc. There were a variety of students of different religion and economic roles are present at the college.

Faculty :

Faculty is quite good except few. Their are 6 lecturers in our department and all of the are PhD degree holders. Age ranging from 35 to 60 years. We had audio visual classes provided with clear, conceptual and Interactive learning experience. Lecturers do hold relevant industry experience or certifications. They are friendly and easy going, so we had no problem on interacting.

Placement Experience :

There were no such placement dirves except a few each year. From companies like tcs, cognizant etc. There are very few number of students placed every year from my campus. For my course there were no placement drive at all. Subjects like maths, statistics, would get benefits is these drives. We weren't prepared by the college for any placement also.
