Course Structure:

The course structure of the course is designed so as to provide an in-depth knowledge of all the necessary concepts related to bioinformatics, be it biology, basic engineering, information technology, computer languages and design or soft skill development. During this course, a student has to attend various laboratory experiments which provide a practical application of the concepts taught in the classrooms. These labs are a supplement to the classroom programs of the semesters. Along with these, the students also have to take up language courses apart from English. These language courses are usually French, German, and Chinese etc.

The other essentials of this course are the seminar, presentations and projects taken up by the students after the third semesters generally. The students are also required to take a compulsory internship after the completion of the sixth semester as a part of the curricula and they shall be evaluated accordingly.

Also, there are a few interdisciplinary courses which are to be taken up by the students during the course of their tenure. These interdisciplinary courses include Value Education, Environmental Sciences, NSS/NCC/NSO/Yoga and Aptitude.

Scheme of Assessment:

The assessments for the course are divided into external examination, internal assessment, labs and workshops and industrial training which are taken twice by the students after fourth and sixth semester. Each of these components has a significance in the overall score obtained by the students.

Matrices, Trigonometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Applications

This paper provides the analytical abilities to the students to solve the mathematical problems effectively.


Mechanical Properties of Solids and Acoustics, Electromagnetic Waves Circuits and Applications, Lasers and Fiber Optics, Quantum Mechanics and Chrystal Physics, Green Energy Physics

This paper focuses on the concepts of physics and helping students become acquainted with them.


Water Treatment, Polymers and Reinforced Plastics, Phase Equilibrium, Lubricants and Adhesives, Corrosion and its Control, Instrumental Methods of Analysis.

The paper deals with the concepts of chemistry essential for the engineering students.

Basic Civil Engineering

Building Materials, Material Properties, Building Components, Surveying and Transportation, Water Supply and Sewage Disposal.

The paper deals with concepts of civil engineering essential for the course.

Multiple Integrals and Differential Equations

Functions of Several Variables, Differential Equations, Multiple Integrals, Vector Calculus, Three Dimensional Analytical Geometry.

The paper is focused on the mathematical education which helps students calculate and analyse better.

Materials Science

Electronic and Photonic Materials, Magnetic and Dielectric Materials, Modern Engineering and Biomaterials, Introduction to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Materials Characterisation.

Students are acquainted with concepts related to material science so that they gain the scientific understanding regarding the manipulation of materials.

Principles of Environmental Science

Environmental Education and ecosystems, Environmental Pollution, Waste Management, Biodiversity and its conservation, Environmental Protection.

This course deals with the concepts of environmental science, its conservation and pollution.

Cell Biology

An overview of Cells and Cell Research, Cell Structure and Function, Cell Signaling- Cell Regulation, Diseases of Cells. 

The cell biology deals with the workings of the cells in a body and related aspects to it.


Introduction, Metabolism of Carbohydrates, Protein Metabolism, Fatty Acid Metabolism and Nucleic Acid Metabolism, Oxidative Phosphorylation.

The focus is to provide an understanding of the functions of various biomolecules and their metabolism.

Programming Using MATLAB

Practicing MATLAB, Data types, Constants, and Variables, Input-Output functions, Polynomial Evaluation, Graphics.

This lab course helps students learn the application of MATLAB.

Basic Mechanical Engineering
