Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech in Electronic Instrumentation and Control

Successful completion of Higher Secondary education (HSC or 10+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from any recognized Board or Council is the basic requirement to take admission in B.Tech in Electronic Instrumentation and Control Engineering. Minimum percentage required in the qualifying examination is 50% for most of the top engineering institutes with a relaxation of 5% marks for those belonging to reserve category (SC/ST). Ans. Kalyani University is a very popular institution and pursuing an engineering degree from this university has its own pros and cons. Some of my friends studied there and here are the things I got to know from them. Pros  This institution is owned and run by the government. The complete fees for your 4 years of graduation is less compared to other private colleges. The faculty of this college is very good and all other staff members such as lab assistant, office staff, canteen staff are very helpful.  The university also hires some external professors having years of industry experience to teach and guide the students.  This gets them accustomed to the corporate culture.  The total number of students in this department is less so you will always have the chance to interact with your professors. Cons One of the biggest demerits of this university is that it doesn't have a proper placement cell in its campus.  Securing a job offer is tough, and you have to take the initiative yourself. The infrastructure of this college is average. The computer lab, electronics lab, instrumentation lab don't have adequate facilities.  The campus is located in a remote area. Ans. Having known some people studying in these colleges, I can tell you that both colleges are really good in their own ways. But, you should consider the following before you make any decision: KJ Somaiya has slowly improved over the years and now is considered much better than Mumbai University (MU). Vivekanand is known to keep track of attendance which is not the case with KJ Somaiya. If you are considering doing Electronics, you should know that Electronics and Telecommunications has an upper edge. The exams at KJ Somaiya are tougher than MU. This is because MU repeats a lot of previous years’ questions. You will get a 5 day holiday in MU before a semester paper. At KJ, you will only get a day or two. Therefore, at KJ, your exams will be hectic. The semesters end pretty quickly at KJ as opposed to MU.  MU students only get one month’s leave after a semester ends. For KJ, this leave is for 2 months.  You can utilize this time to look for internships and other activities that will help strengthen your resume. Electronics has a few subjects like digital communication which might overlap with telecommunications. Ans. EE at IIT Dhanbad is unquestionably superior to NIT Calicut’s ECE. According to some of my friends studying at IIT Dhanbad, you should never lose the chance of studying at IIT Dhanbad.  So far as the branch is concerned, there is a minor difference.  ECE is more concerned with IT than EE.  But it doesn't matter if you're in a prestigious institution.  In reality, almost all branch students learn to code and apply to tech companies at IIT. You will have plenty of opportunities to learn whatever you want at the institution.  It is entirely up to you whether you want to work in core companies or IT companies after completing EE. Ans. There is nothing called instrumentation engineering. The students usually study the syllabus of the electronic branch that includes learning low-level languages along with the complete command of them.  There is a very high demand for highly skilled engineers who know the top programming languages like TopCoder, GitHub, and many more.  Learning these languages totally depends upon the person that they can do without going to college. Becoming an electronics engineer totally depends upon the person, and their effort, not the college.  Some of the students follow the GATE syllabus to enter into the government sectors.  Some get recruitment in top private companies by learning these programming languages. The college can help you out only by giving a proper study environment that can promote your overall development.  If you wish to join the private sector, then only the placement facility provided by the college is useful to you. Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is quite well structured and it includes theory exams as well as practicals also. There are 8 semesters in totality. In each semester there are approx. 4-5 theory exams and their relevant practical exams. It was well grommed to provide the industry based knowledge and hands on trainings. It was helpful in bagging 3 placement opportunities from Campus.

Placement Experience :

Mostly all the top companies including technical and non-technical companies visit every year for placement process. Placement process is very crystal clear. Students with more than 65% aggregate can sit in almost all relevant companies. Recruitment process includes percentage shortlisting, followed by written test, followed by group discussions and final interviews.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio was good about 60:40 based on ranking of students. There is no criteria of admission based on gender. There were various cultural and technical societies like dance, drama, singing, etc. Societies. Everyone is free to be a part of the societies.There is no discrimination based on caste, religion or economic conditions of a student.

Placement Experience :

Placement was not very good here, but they arrange placement activities with other colleges. As they arranged Infosys recruitment at Ramswaroop college in 2008. Also one recruitment process was at college campus by Sineone Services (a telecommunications services company) and i was selected in that company. But their hiring process got delayed so i rejected that offer.

Remarks :

Yes this college is good to make your career bright. The bad thing about the college was it was very far from the city. Good thing is that college faculty was supportive in every situation. Even many of the poor students asked to grany their fees and the same was approved by college.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes Seniors of my college were supportive, when i took admissions, at time healthy ragging was there, but i think a healthy ragging i good for new students, which make them familiar. Seniors helped me to find out room for rent and also i got books and study materials from them.
