The course contains a balance of theory and laboratory work. Student has to study core and elective courses in 4 years of B.Tech. program. In the 8th semester student has to go through industrial training, project work and various seminars.

Ques. Which is better- IEM in Ms. Ramaiah or EEE in Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering?

Ans. After doing some research online, I would suggest not to go for IEM at Ramaiah, until and unless you are extremely interested in studying that particular subject. Since it will not pay you anything and you will eventually wind up in the same category of mass placement at one of the service-based companies.  Double-check the topics you will be studying. EEE is usually less exposed than IEM, yet EEE is regarded as the most complex branch to be studied.  The majority of EEE / ECE / other branches receive job offers from Infosys, HCL, Accenture, or Tech Mahindra. Ans. The choice depends on the branch of your interest. If you are interested in pursuing Computer Science Engineering, IIT Ropar is the best choice. If you are unsure of your choice, IIT Delhi is the best option. Ques. Which would be better to take from NIT Trichy: instrumentation and control or production?

Ans. I know a little bit about ISI Kolkata since I have a few friends from the institute. Here is what you should know about the internships between semesters.  The course curriculum specifies that in the summer after completing your first year of M.Tech, you have to do an internship either in the industry or academia. You will have 3 options.  Industry: Many companies that visit the Campus for placements of 2nd-year students also select interns for the same. Some of such companies are Samsung Research Labs, Google, General Electric, Reliance, Flipkart, De Shaw, JP Morgan Chase, etc. The average stipend offered last year was 65,000 rupees/month. Some companies offer more than 1 lakh/month. One of my friends interned at Samsung Research Labs. Academia: As per ISI guidelines, you need to pursue an internship at a different academic Institute or industry. A friend of mine went to NUS Singapore, while two others went to a university in Germany. You can also apply to other institutes in Japan, USA, and Europe. People also go to IITs, CMI, and other Tier-1 Institutes of India. Within ISI: If for some reason you could not get an internship in the above-mentioned ways, you can approach any of the 250+ faculty members across all 5 ISI‘s and can ask to work with them in their labs. You will have internships at the end of the first year. In the second year, you will have placements, dissertation, academics. So, the only time left to do an additional internship is the winter break after the first sem. Unless you are extremely enthusiastic, I will suggest that you take a break during this period. Because after the break you will be swamped with coursework for 1.5 years.Read more

Ques. Which is better, production engineering at NIT Agartala or ECE at NIT Mizoram?

Ans. Your decision completely depends on your priority as to what is the most important to you, the branch or the college. Being a graduate from NIT Agartala, I would suggest you go for NIT Agartala rather than NIT Mizoram. If college is the most important to you then you should go for NIT Agartala. The infrastructure is far better than most of the NITs. You may have to face some trouble regarding the faculties as they are not up to the mark. If the branch is your priority go for ECE, however, Production Engineering also has grown as a department. You can make your careers in Supply Change, Quality Management, and Control, etc. Other than this, your choice should depend upon the location. Give preference to the one that's closer to your home. Both the colleges are tier 3 Indian engineering colleges and the graduates have been working in companies with a package of 3 to 4 lakhs per annum. Categories Production Engineering at NIT Agartala ECE at NIT Mizoram Course Fee 6.31 lakh 5.43 lakh Highest CTC 8-10 LPA 6-7 LPA Average CTC 5.5 LPA 3.5 - 4 LPA Recruiting Companies L&T, NTPC, JP Morgan, Reliance, etc. Bharat Electronics Limited, Tech Mahindra, IBM, HP, etc. Both branches are equally good in their own ways. Ques. Which is a better choice among industrial systems engineering at IIT Kharagpur and electrical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar?

Ans. IIT Bhubaneshwar has come into existence recently and it is a new and young institute. It needs to develop more to grow and attain the reputation like other well stable institutes. It has to improve in terms of infrastructure, faculty, and opportunities. A few points on IIT Kharagpur before taking a decision: IIT Kharagpur is a well stable and maintained institute and has everything that you wish in an institute. It has the best faculty, reputation, and infrastructure. You can choose IIT Kharagpur if you want to spend your college years on a good campus with all the facilities as it is heaven for four years. If you are not getting the branch of your interest, there is an option to change the branch. But you must attain a higher GPA in your first semester, however, it is not an assured way and is risky. Compared with Industrial System Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, EE at IIT Bhubaneshwar would be a better option as the academics and job opportunities are better. You will receive great placement offers in IIT Bhubaneshwar also. It ends up at the branch you are interested in and then the institute. Both these branches are like North and south.Read more
