B.Tech Instrumentation Engineering: Eligibility Criteria 

A student should pass 10+2 standard with 60% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics for taking admission in Instrumentation Engineering course. Most of the institutes ask for a rank scored in any relevant entrance exam. Some of the institutes also hold above 70% criteria in class 12.

B.Tech Instrumentation Engineering: Admission Process

Students have to clear any one of the entrance exams for engineering courses like JEE Main and JEE Advanced, COMEDK UGET for taking admission. After getting a rank, students have to go through the counselling process by the respective authorities which may also include an interview. On the basis of rank obtained by the candidates, seats are offered. Also, some universities give direct admissions to the students on merit basis.

Entrance Exams

The exam pattern is similar for most of the entrance exams. There are 3 sections viz., Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Questions are framed on class 11 and 12 syllabuses. Duration of the exam is 3 hours.

Selection Process

Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam and 12th board. For e.g. in JEE Main candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their marks in the exam. The top 2 lakh candidates are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. Candidates should note that for any academic session, JEE Main score will be accepted for admission in B.E./B.Tech programme throughout the country. However, some states such as COMEDK UGET conduct their own entrance tests.

Direct Admission

On the basis of marks scored in the 10+2 exams and management quota seats, students are given direct admission in the engineering institutes.  Students with 45% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are eligible for direct admission in B.Tech. Some colleges which offer direct admission in B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering are Greater Kolkata College of Engineering & Management (Kolkata), Pailan College of Management & Technology ( Kolkata), Netaji Subhash Engineering College (Kolkata).

Lateral Entry

Students, after completion of their diploma course, can take admission directly in the 3rd semester of B.Tech Instrumentation Engineering through lateral entry. Some colleges also conduct entrance tests for lateral entry. Students with minimum 60% marks (eligibility criteria can vary institute wise) in the diploma are eligible to take admissions in the B.Tech course.

Ans. One of my friends recently graduated from NIT Trichy and he was able to give me some information regarding the ICE branch placement at the institute.  Based on the information that I gathered, I will say don’t go for ICE if your aim is placement. Most ICE students from NIT Trichy get placed in software companies, with a similar package as that of a tier-2 CS student.  The problem with the ICE branch is that you won’t get to learn anything in-depth. The core companies that visit the campus look for students with strong technical skills. Which the ICE department does not offer.  Currently, the average package for the ICE branch in Nit Trichy is not good, it is nearly INR 6-7 LPA. Read more

Ans. I know a little bit about ISI Kolkata since I have a few friends from the institute. Here is what you should know about the internships between semesters.  The course curriculum specifies that in the summer after completing your first year of M.Tech, you have to do an internship either in the industry or academia. You will have 3 options.  Industry: Many companies that visit the Campus for placements of 2nd-year students also select interns for the same. Some of such companies are Samsung Research Labs, Google, General Electric, Reliance, Flipkart, De Shaw, JP Morgan Chase, etc. The average stipend offered last year was 65,000 rupees/month. Some companies offer more than 1 lakh/month. One of my friends interned at Samsung Research Labs. Academia: As per ISI guidelines, you need to pursue an internship at a different academic Institute or industry. A friend of mine went to NUS Singapore, while two others went to a university in Germany. You can also apply to other institutes in Japan, USA, and Europe. People also go to IITs, CMI, and other Tier-1 Institutes of India. Within ISI: If for some reason you could not get an internship in the above-mentioned ways, you can approach any of the 250+ faculty members across all 5 ISI‘s and can ask to work with them in their labs. You will have internships at the end of the first year. In the second year, you will have placements, dissertation, academics. So, the only time left to do an additional internship is the winter break after the first sem. Unless you are extremely enthusiastic, I will suggest that you take a break during this period. To choose between both of these is your choice. Here are some of the facts about NIT Trichy and SSN. Faculty: SSN has amazing teaching faculty. They have quality teachers, some better than in NIT Trichy.  Ranking: SSN is one of the premier institutes in Tamil Nadu and NIT Trichy is among the top-ranked NITs in the country. Extracurricular activities: SSN gives equal importance to academics and extra-curricular activities as well. They focus on overall development. In NIT Trichy, a lot of extracurricular activities are held. Fests are organized almost every week. They focus too much on extracurricular. Campus: SSN is lush green and has a scenic beauty. NIT Trichy has a rocky campus and does not have much greenery, although they do have a beautiful college avenue road. Placements: The placements of NIT Trichy are better than SSN, however, the Average CTC is almost the same. Here is the placement highlight of the year 2020. Campus Life :

The campus is extremely good. There are to many trees in campus that make campus our college there are various fest organised each year. Like sport fest.,tech fest, and many more all these fest are organised in Feb-march in each year. We have huge library in which various books are available include engineering to political books are available. Our campus consists of huge playground and very good gym and many of clubs also available in our college such as RNXG, Team praveg, Drishti etc.

Placement Experience :

From six semester students are eligible for placements. They are selected by taking there interviews many of them selected directly for company some of them selected for internships program. The visited are Tcs they make many of placement. Avg packages is approx. 4 lac per annum based on profiles they offer. Many of branch get more placement and some get less but average placement is out of 60 students in class 20 to 25 get place on campus. And i am going to do GATE preparation.

Internships Opportunities :

Our college offers internship as 2 industrial internship are compulsory to engineering student one internship are offered by college they make contact to industries and students go for internship through the teachers this internship mostly after 7th semester. Students can also approach to industries to take internship if industries are allowed to student to do internship student must have to letter from department head. Social internship are also offered by college.

Placement Experience :

Placement of our college is overall good. A very large no. Of aur alumni are at very high posted. Many companies like TCS, Wipro, HCL, amazon.etc come for campus placement every year. Yes, our college provide internships program and the averages stipend of 15, 000 per month is given.

Alumni/Alumna :

Seniors of our college is very helpful and polite. I have a very grateful interaction with them. They helped us in our academic problems and gives interaction with other seniors. They us give us knowledge of many important things that we can't get from faculty members.

Remarks :

Overall college is good but our infrastructure facilities, encouragement of other activities, internship, industrial visit etc is needed for students apart from academic knowledge. Digital classroom and to they have to focus more on overall development of the student.

Entrance Preview :

I took AIEEE 2012 to get into this college whose name is I.I.E formally known as USIC. My rank was around 3 lakhs which was not a good rank neither i'm proud of this rank. I really wanted to get into a government college and i heard from a friend that the I.I.E kurukshetra is the college where you can get in easily during physical counseling and this was the main reason i opt for the branch naming Instrumentation engineering, a branch about which i never ever heard about. Also it was near to my house that was other factor to to opt this branch.

College Events :

There is only one fest that is celebrated in our college yearly and its name is brain buzz. Its basically only a quiz competetion where only our college students were present and a couple of senior teacher came at last. Last year we organised football meet for all 4 years and too with too much difficulty otherwise no other fests are organised.

Campus Life :

Campus life is awesome and its only because we live in the state university. Fests are organised in the university where you can perform or even cordinate. In girls hostel a dj night is organised every month. No extra labs are organised. Recently a couple of workshops are organised by IITs and other experts which was good.
