B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing: What is it About?

B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing course has a range of comprehensive theoretical knowledge and also practical training in Computer Science, Numerical Computing and Mathematical Finance. It stretches on to various aspects of education like Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Pure Mathematics or Statistics.

Mathematics and Computing together are a result of an interdependent relationship when they occur simultaneously in a course structure like this. Whilst Mathematics comprises of a trail of abstract concepts and ideas, computing is a result of more concrete and basic concepts.

The new computing (or the modern computing) demands growth and requisites of varieties of thorough and careful mathematical techniques, ranging from enhancing the solutions of complicated differential equations to statistical analysis of large-scale data. This can, however, be achieved only if one has strong backgrounds and commands on both the aspects that is Mathematics and Computing.

Eligibility for B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing

10+2 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) is the basic requirement to take admission in any BE/B.Tech. program. Percentage required in qualifying exam is 50% for most of the engineering institutes. Apart from this, there are certain other criteria on which various institutes provide admission. Every university or institute comes up with an annual entrance test that needs to be cleared for any further formality.

B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing: Admission Process

The general admission process in most of the institutes is on the basis of entrance tests. There are several state level and national level engineering entrance exams. Although some institutes provide direct admission based on merit in qualifying exam. Most of the reputed institutes have made the entrance exam mandatory for admission procedure.

There are several entrance exams held in India at National and State level. Some private institutes like SRM University, BITS Pilani, VIT University, etc. conduct their separate entrance test. Some main National and State level entrance exams are mentioned below:

Exam Name Level/Conducted By Colleges
JEE Main National level/ CBSE NITs, IIITs, Most of the institutes accept JEE Main Score
JEE Advanced National/IITs IITs
BITSAT National/BITS Pilani BITS Pilani all campuses
SRMJEEE National/SRM University SRM University all campuses

Direct Admission

Engineering institutes which offer direct admission have certain criteria for admission. Either they offer admission on the basis of merit in qualifying exam i.e. 10+2 or equivalent or there are some management seats reserved in private engineering colleges. For management quota, the fee structure is generally higher than others.
