B.Tech. Petroleum Refining and Petrochemicals Engineering: Admission Process

Interested candidates may fill the application form with copies of their photos, xerox of certificates, mark sheets and JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination) results before the due date. Applications get shortlisted on the basis of performance and subsequently, admission is offered.  Also, the AA+ grade candidates are offered an academic scholarship.

Entrance Exam

Some of the colleges that offer admission on the basis of the JEE Main merit list are IIT (Mumbai and Madras), ISM (Dhanbad), UPSE, and the AnnaUniversityy of Chennai and Dibrugarh.

The application form for JEE Main entrance is available online, most often in the month of December month. Applicants having secured a minimum of 75th percentile with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the main subjects may apply. The application fee falls ranges between INR 500-700 and the examination lasts for 3 hours. It can be taken in either of online and offline modes. 4 marks are awarded for every correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect one. 30 questions of 120 marks each are asked from every one of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The cut- off ranges from 105 for General candidates to 70 for OBC candidates and 44-50 for ST/SC category candidates. The entrance exam is patterned broadly along the lines of the AIEEE and CET.

Selection Process

Eligible applicants that have scored the highest marks according to the cut off decided by the Board are first offered admission. Highest scoring candidates are enrolled into the best colleges.  

Distance mode admission

The course is also offered in the distance education mode as a 4- year course at an average fee ranging from INR 70,000 to 1,00,000.

As for lateral entry, it is offered after the 2nd year upon production of proof of a diploma course already undertaken by the student. Course material is sent to students through courier facility once the payment is made.
